Don't leave cash on the bar ! Homeless folk pop in and steal often from your server. Laid back rustic vibe + great whiskey . Dog friendly (inside too!) Get some of their roasted spiced nuts , delish!
The back bar is whiskey-centric here, but the bartenders are open-minded enough to mix up anything you want. The designer did a solid job, making the bar feel like the belly of a WWII war ship.
Cocktails are pretty solid. Best thing is that you can order some beef jerky as a bar snack to nibble on.
Great happy hour . $8 for a Pacifico , michelada , and tequila shot. Also the bar tender made me an impromptu iced Irish Coffee that was quite good!
Best Old Fashions in the city . Great chill spot on off nights as well . 24-hour food right next door when you're ready to call it a night!
One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city . There is plenty of space; good spot to bring a large group of people before heading out for the night.
My new favorite male bartender , Made me a great whiskey drink . Super friendly . Second time there and will cont to go back. Gets crowded at night. Lots of standing room. (3 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
Cool vibes and great cocktails . A little hard to hear and really dark inside, so don't come here on a first date ;)
This bar boasts a well-done and straightforward cocktail list , a thoughtful selection of 10 beers on tap , and perhaps most striking, a chic yet casual and user-friendly design.
The big windows make it really lovely on a light summers afternoon.
Gets crowded and loud on weekends, but the drinks are great and the atmosphere is friendly and low-stress.
Julie Kim talks about the in-between and unscripted nature of the Church and Market intersection . She discusses that it's the mixing of people and the unexpected that makes the location successful. Read more
Try the excessively-garnished Pimm's cup made with homemade Pimm's.
beer , cocktails , pool, and communal seating . Good date or meet up spot in castro/mission
It's a sort of civilized place... It's refreshing to enjoy a beer amongst people with manners and seemingly little mental baggage:)
After happy hour (8ish) is the best time to grab a seat. After 9:30, it gets stupid.
They make an incredible rye old fashioned . The cocktails on the menu are great but if you need an old staple, now you know.
A great spot to hit in the afternoon as part of a cocktail crawl along with Blackbird and Lucky 13.
Try to sit/stand close to the entrance where you are exposed to the windows/natural light. People watching is a gem.
I love the cocktails here. The whisk(e)y selection is tip top as well .
Good (not great) cocktails with a lively atmosphere . Cool place to hop to from Blackbird .
Decent selection of both beers and cocktails . Convenient location and knowledgable bar staff .
Great spot for post-work happy hour . Dog-friendly!!
A cool hangout spot , great on weekdays when it's not too busy
The remodel from being BOC to Churchill is beautiful. So much better from what the interior looked before.
Essentially a mildly less hipster , more upscale version of Bloodhound. No qualms with that. It works. The cocktails are fantastic
Ryan Greene is a very cool bouncer who works here. Check out his music : https://soundcloud.com/goldenshelltoes/01-backdoorman
Chill bar with great cocktails . The Jimmy Rose is an all time favorite.
Used to be a more dive-ish place, but the new owners have done magic with the bar 's interior. Drinks are mighty tasty too.
Happy hour ! And the staff gere are very nice too
Cocktails are meticulous. The happy hour deals are nice.
Great craft cocktails . Great party location!
Pretty decent cocktails . Made a good French 75, a decent sazerac , and a decent last word.
Allows dogs! Nice staff . Big space , and they got a pool table too!
Great cocktails ! I like the Gold Rush.
If pat is working ask for his cocktail "third place" it's an angostura heavy sour variation fucking good!
Great cocktails in spacious setting
Grab some addictive bourbon-spiced nuts to go with your cocktail .
Try the House Margarita ! It's a little bit smokier than you might be used to, but it's delicious!!
Love the old bartender on weeknights. He treats you right.
The specialty drinks top the charts. Everything from gin based to tequilla based. Enjoy!
Excellent craft beer , sweet bartenders .
They have a strong bar program here and great windows that let in light and fresh air .
Adventurous? Ask the bartender to make you an experimental drink that's being evaluated for possible placement on the menu.
Their couch is super comfy and the staff is great. Drink whiskey here (2 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
Love the location, but the service is lousy and slow. Prefer blackbird and hi tops if you’re in the area.
SF Weekly's Best of Winner 2012 - Reader's Poll - BEST NEW BAR
Too crowded for couples to enjoy on the weekend, this place certainly has the trendy cocktail bar atmosphere down
Amazing cocktails . The bartenders here know what they're doing.
Good cocktails , bad soundtrack.
Great cocktails! Try the New Orleans coffee, on tap right now ☕️???? - Adi Dahiya
Drink menu changes monthly now. Incredible drinks. Latest for me is the Golden Fire hydrant. Tequilas and more. Try the Trick Dog hamburger! - Vic Zaud
