Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants in Houston. Sit by the counter, order one of their tasting menus and prepare to be amazed by some of the most creative Japanese food you will ever have!
Uchi has the best happy hour in Houston. Great dishes like the uchiviche and machi cure are so affordable , and the flavors are unmatched. Plus, rolls like the ham and egg are fun and filling!
When you're lucky enough to find a seat at the sushi bar ... order the 10-course tasting menu . Get insights from the sushi chefs to truly appreciate each course. A foodies delight!
If Michelin happens to be in this area, I think this is the one. Foie gras sushi is the best. Try to make the most of the Happy Hour (4~6PM) opportunity.
Brussels sprouts are the best here! Really good happy hour menu . Make sure to come when they open at 5PM if you don't have a reservation .
The tasting menu is the way to see why this is Houston's best restaurant . Nigiri , duck , asparagus , venison , roasted carrots . All Delicious. Bring a full wallet, for special occasions only!

Must-try signature dishes include Machi Cure (smoked yellowtail , Asian pear , Marcona almonds , and yucca crisps), and the famous Shag Roll (tempura salmon , avocado , and sun-dried tomato ). Read more
Absolutely delightful. On your first visit, the 10-course tasting menu will let you get a good feel for the sights, smells and tastes of the place. Be sure to try their sake selection too.
One of the best restaurants I have ever been! Food is absolutely amazing and the service is great. Worth every penny :)
The shag and mustang roll delish. The bacon tataki amazing. They had a foie special that day that was spectacular. Michael our sever knew everything about every dish and had spectacular recommendation
One if the best dinner experiences I've had in my life. Got the "Chefs Selection" which was 10 courses of which I would've ordered none myself. All amazing and surprising. Very pricey though!
Happy hour is every weekday and offers some of Uchi's favorites — machi cure with smoked yellowtail , for example, and the skewers of pork belly called bacon sen — for a drastically reduced price.
Salmon Sashimi ,Cauliflower tempura, shrimp tempura ,sake kosho, inada all tasty worth to try hundreds time ????
This restaurant is for sure one of Houston's most exquisite restaurants ! Superior thought put into every dish. Be wary of "market price" options. both occasions were $300+. Worth it though :)
Lives up to the hype. Incredible food with great service. Highly recommend for special occasion . Sushi and warm dishes are excellent!
You must include their tempura Brussels sprouts in your order. Order them extra spicy for a kick. Cool off with their Yokai berry . Read more
Awesome! Unbelievable food, tasty and really different, service is on the top! Of course it’s expensive ... PS you’ve to try dessert .
A great spot for foodies. Try the sunomono maki : suzuki, lime , coconut milk , corn . Amaze-balls. In fact, EVERYTHING here is incredible!
Pork Ribs were good. The Walu Walu is excellent, if you like fish . Fried Milk desert is awesome. So is the Peanut Butter Semifreddo.
Sit at the sushi bar . Come early (when it opens) to avoid a long wait - or make a reservation . Enjoy all the flavors of each dish mixed together.
Unbelievable experience! Jessica picked out the menu for us and her picks were perfect! I highly recommend Uchi if your in Houston and want the best sushi !
Our New Zealand waiter , Matt, gave great suggestions and flawlessly guided us through the menu. The Happy Hour menu was great, and gives you a sampling if their best dishes.
What Jewelz said.... The Walu Walu melts in your mouth. The Zero Sen & Cali w/ crab were amazing. And don't forget to top it off with the Fried Milk . ????
I can't imagine there is a single bad thing on the menu, but the stand outs for me were foie gras sushi , an off-the-menu anchovy sashimi (boquerones sashimi ), and the fried milk dessert .
Wala wala is very tasty! all sushi rolls was great! And fried milk for desert was very great as a final to all tasty things we eat this evening:)
It was my first time here. My server was Pam and she was awesome. She detailed every step of the menu before I could ask anything. & The Ryoshuu is a must try drink for a lady.
Try the Ham & Eggs - this is a very interesting take on a comfort food , and was VERY good...BUT it didnt quite flow with our meal...should have gotten this earlier in the meal
Simply Amazing! Expensive but amazing. It's the first time I eat sushi without soy souce. This is a different place. 100% recommended!
Sit outside while you wait for a table and ask for Chelsea as a server and then let her pick your menu for you. Just trust her. She's amazing.
Don't miss: Machi cure ; Hirame Usuzukuri; daily fish in parchment package; nigiri sushi made from the fish on the daily specials list; cutting-edge desserts . Read more
Make sure you get the Walu Walu, Pork Jowels, Brussels Sprouts , Shag roll and some Madai. You won't regret it!
Superb, innovative cuisine. Very knowledgeable staff . My only criticism would be that they don't take reservations so waits can be long
Try the Machi Cure - suggested to eat like a nacho...pick up yucca chip , scoop yellowtail on top, place asian pear on top, then shove it in ur mouth!!! totally awesome!
The absolute BEST sushi we have ever had. Not cheap at all but totally worth every penny. Great date night locale and the atmosphere is inviting.
Sit at the bar . Fun to look while the sushi chefs prep and plate. Great chance to get recommendations from them too.
Superb modern Japanese cuisine with creative ingredients and presentation. Serene setting and artful service complete the experience. (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
Amazing service, great food, & beautiful presentation ! Not as pricey as some made it out to be, around $130 for 5 courses & 3 cocktails
Amazing food. Fantastic service. We let Pam take us on a tasting with saki pairings. Truly outstanding.
Let the waiter order for you. They know their stuff + everything is awesome- wont be able to decide. Sit at the bar to connect with the kitchen.

The chef 's tasting menu was fabulous. I also recommend the lime cream dessert or the fried milk .
Avocado bake, jar jar duck , zero sen, mustang, hama chili ... Let's wait for desert !
Machi Cure and hama chili are home runs. Bacon tataki, shrimp tempura , fried brie , brussel. sprouts are good hot dishes
The hama chili will tear down your opinion of any other yellowtail dish you've had before.
Fantastic! IMO the best sushi in Houston. Every plate is a work of art . Beautiful.
Get there early and make a reservation if you can. This is an amazing restaurant with some of the best sushi .
Try the Yokai Berry - smokey fried dinosaur kale with sweets pears and yokai berries ...not ur everyday salmon sashimi dish...sooo interesting!
Their special blend of sake is incredible, jar jar duck is awesome, and basically anything on the menu will blow you away.
Just everything is phenomenal. Recommend the Jar Jar Duck and the Foie Nigiri .
Spicy Raman is excellent. Great happy hour. Creative and delicious specials. - Christy Landes
The steak and sushi are both excellent. Finely crafted choices are all over the menu. Brussel sprouts are very good, too. - Ed
Red devil roll is my fave here!! But I really like the downtown location better than the Village location! - Anh Nguyen
amazing staff with great off menu drinks! delicious food as well, specifically the chicken pot pie! - Felipe Veiga
This place is great! No cover, free parking, great music, drinks, food & awesome bartenders! I went here for my 28th birthday & I loved it???? There is a dress code, not too strict. I will be going back - Sandy Desu
Great for happy hour, Sunday Funday, and a quick bite. Fire pits in the booths is a nice touch. Music from speakers can be a little loud if you're on a date. Love this place when the weather is nice - Liss V.
