I love the Africa area with the lions and the cheetahs. It is a good place to spend a day. I can't wait for zoo lights this holiday season. I have heard spectacular things about this year's lights.
A great place to relax and have a fun day - there's a lot to see, and you could spend hours just combing over all the exhibits . If I lived in Phoenix, I would definitely buy a membership .
Wonderful zoo for all ages. No matter what time of year, getting to the zoo early is always your best bet. The animals are most active then and you will be there early enough for all daily activities.
Take a walk on the wild side and adventure through the Phoenix Zoo! Meet the newest baby giraffe , Rafiki. They host some pretty fun family-friendly events , so be sure to check their events calendar.
We just visited the Phoenix Zoo last week and loved it! So many cool things to see! The zoo is very spread out so bring some good walking shoes .
No it's not the San Diego Zoo but it's a great place to spend five hours with your kids when the weather is nice. It has every animal you would want to see and allot of fun activities to enjoy.
Be prepared not to see a lot of animals out at this time of year. Even though it is warm in Arixoba, it is still winter so most of the animals were in hiding. I still enjoyed the little I did see.
Get the zoo membership . It's fairly inexpensive , and the zoo is awesome to just walk around on a day off with the kids. Plus, they have animals!
A membership pretty much pays for itself the first time you come. My family of 9 comes several times a year whether it be to have a picnic or see an animal we didn't see last time. Great nature walk!
Feed the giraffes and don't be afraid to ask questions! The summer is a slow time at the zoo because...well ...it's hot. But the giraffes don't mind it and the knowledgeable guides are still there!
One of the only places you can see turtles the size of a VW beetle. Unbelievable. Also a great place for photographers to snap pics with open views of many animals and venues.
Bring your food and drinks! They allow you to bring your own stuff and it saves money! If you buy a drink get the souvenir cup...$1 refills and you can bring it back next time you come!
The Phoenix Zoo was home until 1998 to Ruby the artistic elephant, whose paintings sell today for a hefty bit of cash. Even without Ruby, the zoo is a great spot for families, friends and dates.
The best time to go to the phoenix zoo is during the zoo lights! This is a must. We go every year, this is our favorite place to see lights!
Lions, tigers and bears , oh my! Winter time is the best time to visit the zoo in Phoenix--not too hot! Make sure to feed the giraffes while you're here! The kiddos will love it.
Really fun outing for the family! It was pretty hot so make sure to get there early but the highlight of the day was feeding the giraffes ! Definitely an unforgettable moment!!
If you live in Phoenix and think you will come here more than once this year, but the membership . You get free guest passes, membership privileges and an annual pass. Great deal!
I have been going here for years and I still love it. The kettle corn is delicious to carry around while you view some of the animals. Visit your local library for free passes- they go fast though!
If you have little kids, make sure to take them to the petting zoo , giraffe encounter, and stingray bay . If you arent worried about the train , paying individually is cheaper than the "wild" pass.
I donated one of my eight male lions to this zoo . A word of caution: He understands Spanish, French and Catalan. So don’t say anything derogatory about him.
Great for the kiddos. You can buy a yearly membership for around $100, in the summer they have a splash pad, during the year the playgrounds are amazing:)
Love coming to the zoo . My daughter and I go a few times a month, especially if the weather is not too hot! Downfall now that it is warming up... all the bees.
Soo much fun with kids we loved sting ray exhibit . But be warned u should bring lunch . We paid 14 dollars for chicken strip meal and drink ouch!
Right next to the Desert Botanical Garden ! Great time to go is around the holidays when they are featuring "Zoo Lights". Perfect family event . Great for the young children.
Ive been to this zoo many times! I have found that the best time to go is in the morning when the animals are just waking up they are very energetic!!
The aquarium has lots of different fishes in there. You can actually pet a sting ray too! Its ranked one of the top zoos nationally so take advantage of it. Great descriptions of each animal too!
Check both viewing areas to see the elephants. The upper viewing (near the restrooms and jaguar) offers a great view of the whole exhibit . The lower viewing (across from Land of the Dragons)gets close
Beautiful place to have some time with nature and see the amazing animals. You can enjoy it the most once the weather cools down. Guaranteed fun!
Nice place to go with the family on the weekend, the membership really worth, many funny things for the little ones !!!
Great place to take the kids, largest non-profit zoo in the United States ! So there are more than enough animals to keep everyone entertained and interested.
Great way to surprise your kids - wake them up early saturday morning, take them to Dunkin Donuts and let them pick out their favorites and then take them to the zoo !
Splash pad! And the monkey cage are a must. Great way to spend the day with the kids... Just wait to go when the weather is cool.
This is the perfect place to visit with your family. Walk around and visit animals ranging from giraffes to monkeys and rhinos. I learn something new every time I go to the zoo .
Don't miss it. If you are not from the desert then you will find it beautiful not only due to existing fauna but also to the landscape
Be sure to feed the Giraffes , you get so up close and personal with them! If it's open you can pet and feed the stingrays too!
If you live a reasonable distance from here, a membership is well worth the price. Goo two times in the year and you get your money's worth out of it.
Had trouble checking in here, but the Phoenix zoo is a wonderful place to hang out with family and even friends! Bring your kids' swim suits, they have two great water pads to enjoy over the summer to
Did you know? In 1962, the last 7 known Arabian Oryx on earth were brought to Phoenix for a captive breeding program. Over 200 Oryx have since been born at the zoo , saving the species from extinction. Read more
Summer Camp Zoo is wonderful! Excellent program; my kids come back every year and love it.
The zoo is a cool place to see. A little pricey to go visit so get your moneys worht and go early and stay at least 3 or 4 hours. Some of the animals were hard to spot as they were not out but the mai
The Zoo is planning on building a new exhibit for the tigers. The upcoming event , Walk in the Wild is a fundraiser for the project. You can also donate at the front gate
Offer student discounts along with a few other discounts ! Zoo lights is so awesome and a great family orientated event !
Make it a day trip and spend the day checking out the animals and sites. Be sure to wear sunscreen and if you are able, definitely go to Zoo Lights around Christmas time
Go early to avoid crowds and the heat. The petting zoo is very popular with my kids and we love the Giraffes .
Go see Zoo Lights! Seeing the animals at night with all the trees decorated with Christmas lights is amazing.
Perfect place for the family, might want to bring water to drink, pricy place but staff are friendly and knowledgeable .
Marathon has closed nearly all entry to the zoo . Had to drive on Scottsdale, to Curry heaf west, to Mill head northwest, to Priest/Galvin Parkway north
Nice zoo but it's poorly organized/laid out. Check out the squirrel monkeys !
Very beautiful zoo but also very spread out so make sure you have comfy shoes . Feeding the giraffes is awesome and worth it ( they have super soft noses)
Look in the little den off to the right of the main viewing . The foxes are nocturnal and usually asleep in the middle of the day but are active late afternoon
I love the cheese pizza, chicken ceasar salad, chicken strips, or onion rings! - Jeremy Barlow
It is fun but the monkey's are deceptively cute. Watch your little ones. They will bite and scratch and the can Carry disease. Make sure to wash up after you leave. - Julie Wilson
If you sit on the bench under the tree, birds will poop on your head. - Paul Hennings
Great location to gather with family & friends for a picnic, barbecue, or just to play around. - Joey Mc Morris
