Awesome place, especially if you're a train fan or think they're at least cool. Getting to stand next to old locomotives is the highlight!
If you're a first-time visitor make sure you pack a lunch there is so much to do here you won't have enough time.
The exhibits are awesome! You never really know the scale of those locomotives till you're right next to them.
Ask about the family membership. It can be a great deal if you plan to go more than once a year.
Great day out, really interesting exhibits ! Such an amazing collection of trains 🚂
You need at least two hours to see everything.
Nifty I went here when I was little to see Thomas the Train Live I just came back today...no Thomas but still cool.
Sit in Virginian 321 and watch real trains as they ride past the museum .
Nice roof gardens, Koi Ponnds, Butterfly Gardens and Aquariums. Good eats nearby but lots of vagrants/homeless people panhandling. - Rickyrod
This is a really great museum -- it's fairly large and tells a beautiful and fascinating story of railroad photography. - Craig Fifer
We were delighted by this we'll-curated museum, which offered a wide variety of works in a beautiful space. - Ben Bailey
A sight to see that can only be seen when in Roanoke. It's a great place to go and take a gander at the city in it's entirety. Do not suggest going in the evening or on the weekend because of daters. - Jeremiah Peery
