Order the eponymous ramen made with a combination of cooked & toasted noodles that float in a coconut milk broth. There are also some traditional bites like edamame , gyoza , & spicy pickled cabbage . Read more
With its unconventional ramen , Tabata may be a love it or hate it. This is the Sutamina Ramen - spicy miso & soy sauce flavored noodle soup w/ pork , leeks , scallions , garlic paste & egg .
Tabata's namesake dish intertwines Burmese and Japanese cuisines. The broth is a combination of soybean and coconut , which is then topped with spicy chicken , red onions , flavored egg , and cilantro .
I and my husband opted for ramen , our daughter had a rice with fried chicken and some sauce and everything was sooo good. Really I probably come back to New York just because of this noodle soup .
Always a solid choice for a meal in this odd part of town behind Port Authority. The Tan Tan Men Ramen is always a good choice as well as the Takowasabi. Read about my visit on WinstonWanders below! Read more
Nice to find a ramen place that shows a little creativity. The coconut milk-based Tabata Ramen dish is tasty.
Great quick lunch spot . The sutamina ramen was not the prettiest bowl I've ever seen but the combo of soy and miso broth is fantastic with the crunch of scallion .
Although I felt like I was cheating on Ippudo, I was thrilled with this less crowded , less expensive alternative near my office . The ramen is also delicious. The spicy "Lava Men " is my favorite!
Good, reasonably priced ramen and other Japanese dishes . Get the Tabata ramen ( their other ramen dishes are good, too, but this one is special.) non-ramen dishes are good too.
Dark Men : This garlic-infused black sesame broth is rather alarming but it slurps up mellow and porky, with the scallions providing highlights. Read more
AMAZING. Best ramen AND rare authentic Burmese. Makes me miss my mom's home-cooked Burmese food. Love the garlic noodles (Sichet khao sware) and coconut noodles w/chicken (Ounoh khao sware).
Toto a few blocks away .Better ratings ... But line @ 7pm was a mile long Happy here ... Pork broth perfect for me Lots of meat in ramen There's a 64oz pitcher of Sapporo w/chicken wings for $18
You would get better ramen for almost the same price at Ippudo or Totto Ramen ... but at least here there is minimal wait, which can make all the difference. Overall good ramen though! (Tonkotsu Ramen )
A great addition to the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood . The signature Tabata Ramen is a must-order - it includes spicy chicken , plus a coconut milk and soy powder broth.
Don’t miss the sesame-flavored tan tan mien, the porky kyushuu, and the simple, salt-flavored shio ($8)—the Asian grandma’s answer to Jewish penicillin. Read more
Try the house ramen . I'm not a fan of coconut but the broth was a perfect balance of thick and creamy
Village Voice is proud to welcome Tabata Noodle Restaurant to the 2014 Choice Eats food fest! http://bit.ly/1cRzdNV.Here you'll find some spicier renditions of traditional ramen .
My go to Ramen shop.. Deep bowl of vegetable Ramen , age dashi tofu , and $4 house sake .. Great meal for less than $20. Super friendly staff .
Delicious good value ramen - no fancy ingredients, only good quality tasty basics. Try the tabata and tonkotsu , both great.
the Sutamina soup w/ pork was amazing. it hit the spot and was probably one of the most delicious ramen soups I've ever had. very authentic flavor.
Tan tan men ramen is to die for
The tabata ramen has a nice and creamy soup base made with chicken broth and coconut milk . Eat the noodles fast because they get soggy really quickly :(
RS says: Try the Tabata Ramen . It "features cooked and toasted ramen in the same bowl, with a novel broth thickened with coconut milk and soy powder and Chicken nubs w/ raw purple onions ."
Lava Ramen it's great, if you love spicy food you should try this one!
The coconut-milk broth Tabata ramen is great - pair it with one of their always changing "special appetizers " for a unique treat
The Tabata ramen noodle is a must. Coconut base with some great egg yolk action.
Great ramen . Stick with the chicken . Very tasty. And their delivery is quick as well .
Good, serviceable ramen and broth. The Shio broth with extra pork is a favorite of mine. Skip the Gyoza here. It's way too garlicky.
Coconut broth is incredible. Much prefer this spot over Toto. More flavorful ramen , better prices, and far less crowded .
Tobata has the best Sudomina Ramen .. Wish a cute fella would take me there. He would most definitely "Get Lucky" all night long
For a departure from your typical ramen , come here for some unique twists like the like the coconut or black sesame ramens .
Get the Tabata Ramen , chicken broth enriched with coconut milk , then topped with ground roasted soybeans .
The Tabata Ramen with coconut milk is a nice spin on the standard ramens offered throughout the city . Tons of umami and warmness.
Drop in for a quick and decent bowl of ramen . Go with their house-named Tabata ramen with an egg .
The spicy lava men is tasty, but not as good as Jin's. Still one of the better ramen spots in town though, and good value .
Pretty convinced this is the best ramen in the city . Chewy, tender noodles and a hot, flavorful broth. Can't get better.
Interesting fusion flavors, love the signature Tabata and dark ramen . The tonkotsu ramen is pretty weak. The gyoza was meh.
Pretty good! Service was quick, though they enforce a $5 minimum per head. Shouldn't matter if everyone is eating. My dad loved the "hellishly spicy " one. (3 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
If you like spicy definitely go for Geki Kara Ramen with pork . I strongly recommend extra scallion , and if you're into it, extra pork .
Great ramen for a solo date when you're randomly in this part of town
I've tried most of their ramen varieties and you really can't go wrong. I recommend eating in though, not as good out of the to go container!
The Garlic noodles are bomb. But the calamari is out of this world, I order two orders just for me every time.
The Sutamina Pork ramen is epically awesome - not too spicy , just has some heat. Really delicious with the soft-poached egg .
Try Dark Men . Black Sesame Paste Noodle soup is very rich taste and nice flavor!
Cheap , good noodles . Lava ramen is spicy tonkotsu : silky with pork fat , racy with chiles. Best with fat-ribboned pork .
Excellent the wasabi dumplings !! SUPERB RAMEN
Traditional shoyu and tan tan (ground pork ) are our favorite ramen !
Ig you are in for ramen , THIS IS THE PLACE!
Quickly becoming my go to ramen spot. Lava men , sutamina and tonkotsu ramen are all great.
Had the tonkatsu ramen here very authentic and tasty. The ramen texture is quality.
