Stone Mountain Summit

The relatively short hike up to the summit was well worth the prize. The views from the top are simply amazing. Best place I've been to in ATL so far. Breath taking sunsets .

The hike is worth it! It’s about a mile to the top and there are plenty of shady places to stop to rest.

Coming down from the summitt an nice alternaive is along the fence. Great views down at Lakes GC and Confederate Hall. Trail veers through woods where you will see unique wildflwrs, birds + few ppl

Great view from up here! Also, check out some of the pools around for some wildlife and rare plants :)

The view of course. Lots of people but skylift moves quickly and there is plenty of space to enjoy your time.

Walking the trails worth the extra workout getting to the top of the mountain .

It's quite the accomplishment to make it to the top but wear shoes with good grip. Flats, sandals, anything other than athletic shoes or hiking boots is a bad idea.

I went up while it was raining. Special treat: A river down Stone Mountain. Wear proper shell clothing and keen river shoes . Be careful. The empty mountain is worth it. All Yours!

Can see for miles around..walk up trail is a challenge for any level of fitness

It was amazing.. The skylift .. The Laser show was spectacular.. Never seen anything like that before..

The gondola lift is free to ride down the mountain if you reach the summit

Be sure to bring at least a windbreaker! Windy and cooler at the top. Ohh... and don't buy the $3.50 drinks at the gift store ! LOL

Take your own trail mix or snacks for the summit . A Camelback definitely helps.

View is just marvelous specially from the top

Walk up the steep rock trail to the top of Stn Mountain . It's an Atlanta tradition. I like sitting near the north face overlooking the lake .

There's a small shop at the top with food and drinks but it's very expensive with nothing more than stuff like chips and cookies .

Children under three ride the Summit Skyride (cable car ) for free.

Queue for food is long.. Get your own snacks to have fun at the park ..

The park opens at six am and in the summer early morning walkups are nice and cool.

If you ride the train be sure to sit on the left side as that's where all the scenery is

Walk back down, it's better for you than the cable car .

get there early on the weekends to walk up. be careful not to fall on the way down, I definitely did, and looked like a complete idiot.
