Stone Mountain Walk Up Trail (Base) is a hiking trail Stone Mountain located in United States.
Robert E. Lee Blvd (Mountain St) Stone Mountain , GA 30083 United States
This is a great and easy hike but avoid doing it in the rain. The granite is steep and becomes very slick when wet. Last time I was there in the rain and watched as people had to slide to get down.
Watch your step on the way up! The ground is very uneven. But the scenery is great! :)
Always one of the best spots to people watch and get a great workout in metro Atlanta
Restrooms and bike racks. Trail starts out okay but does get very steep at the end. It’s short but bring water, especially on sunny days.
$10 for daily parking . check weather conditions beforehand. windy conditions made it difficult to take pictures at the top
I didn't go to walk. I went to do my engagement photo shoot. It's beautiful there... I recommend that as an option for photos. :-)
#Safe & a variety of trails & activities to choose from!!
Easy hike with a nice incline. And you're greeted with the famous gum pole!
Nice little hike with great view from top. Not challenging at all.
For a great cardio workout I would forgo the hike to the top and take the Cherokee Trail around the mountain .
The main walk up trail is fun, but don't miss out on the side trails that wind through the trees .
Do not come on a Saturday! I spent over an hour looking for parking in their parking lot . It was so crowded that it ruined the hike for me. There are many great trails , but come on a weekday.
Go up the white trail the first time! The yellow trail is murder!
Its a great place to walk, run or climb!
Take an Zija XM+ drink before you start and going up will feel like a walk in the Park , literally!!
Gotta set a rhythm and move to a good beat all the way to the summit!
Great venue for walking and biking
Look for the mile markers around the park . If you are walking counter-clockwise, they are on your left and count up.
Getting my walk on.....Beautiful morning nice and cool
Wear shoes with grippy soles and don't step on wet granite .
Check out the weird machine about 200 feet SE of the pavilion. What the heck was that?
Follow the dotted yellow line NOT the solid white line .
Great rolling hills if you are a runner
It's a 10 weather day just outstanding!!!!!!!
Summer time heat, walk at a slower pace. Drink lots of water! ;D
Don't forget your sunscreen and hike-appropriate shoes !
Try a good run slash walk... push yourself... I'm nice goal for 5 miles is 60 minutes!
