The plentiful plates at this popular Southern spot draw from the traditions of comforting soul food , spiced Cajun, New Orleans French fusion, Tex-Mex, and the water-fed Carolina Lowcountry.

William Cabine

If you want some delicious southern food , this is the place to go. Warning: it gets busy, so be prepared to wait; but it is definitely worth it. Tiff had the chicken and waffles WHOA! YUMMY!

Ami K-M

Protip: go for brunch at an off time like 11 am on a Thursday. No line and excellent service. Fried chicken on fleet and pimento cheese app are amazing. Nice homey atmosphere and excellent food.

Desmand W.

Atmosphere and decor are great. Tables are a little close. Came on a Friday night around 8:41 PM and was seated relatively quickly. Food is absolutely amazing! Try the Mac and Cheese and Pecan Pie !

Funmi

This may be the best french toast I’ve ever had. Four thick, fluffy slices surrounded by rum-soaked bananas and cinnamon-sprinkled whipped cream . Yum.

Troy Tate

The shrimp and grits was very good. The grits stand on their own and do not come from a box, there is bacon and cheese to add a nice blend of crunch and creamyness. The shrimp is a cool add on :)

Cyberdoll

Goodness it's rare to have the ability to obtain the food you loved growing up but this is so spot on. The Oysters are amazing. Toffee and Banana Creme Pie was out of this world.

Keith Cavey

The fried chicken may be the star of the show, but the roasted pork shoulder is truly special. The pork is incredibly tender and comes served with a rich, molasses-based sauce.

Corrie Wilson

Incredible. The best southern food I’ve had outside of the south. We did 3 side plates and added both catfish and chicken tenders . There wasn’t a single weak link out of everything we had!

jennifer Amanda

I had a great time here. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. I have the dish where you choose 3 dishes and I ordered the mac n cheese , the corn bread , the Cole slaw , and the catfish

Kristyn Shannon

The Praline Bacon is a must have! The chicken biscuit sandwich with Sausage Gravy TO DIE FOR, and don't forget their 12oz Mimosas of generous proportions! This is must do stop on every trip here!

Alexandr O.

The praline bacon waffle and the fried chicken waffle are quite delicious and all the plates are very generous in size. The service is very friendly and laid back .

Linda Sherman

Felt at home with this Southern style foods. Start with hush puppies and pepper jelly . My husband enjoyed the pork dinner and I really liked the special, which was scallops on a bed of sauced veggies .

Ana R

Food is delicious! Their batter is the best. Everything I tried was delicious. I liked all their chicken meals. The service is good. Be ready to wait over an hour for a people during busy times.

Alberto Rubio Suazo

I ate fried chicken on dinner . It was amazing. I never tried southern-style food before and it just blowed my mind. An American friend said that was the best friend chicken he tried so far

Gehlen Exum

Omg. Have a scarlet o'hara. Or a Texas black gold. And please, please order the Mac and cheese , brisket , and if you already fit the fab five pounds of food and have room- get dessert - you're worth it.

Eater

Local-sourced and southern-fried, everything on this menu from the pimento cheese scramble to the brined bird keeps the locals lining up for seconds, thirds and fourths. [Eater 38 Member] Read more

huiline

Fried oysters are good...enjoyed the chicken fried pork shoulders more than their chicken and waffles .

Sara Swear

We tried everything and it was perfect! Blood orange drinks, start with the grits , fried chicken meal and screen door special gets you the catfish (amazing!), pork chop and mac and cheese !

Roshel Aghassi

This place is amazing. Get here at least 30 minutes before opening to get a table early. The food, whatever you order, is DELICIOUS

CITY GRIT

Get there early if you want brunch on the weekends. The line is long but worth it! Don’t miss the Praline Bacon !

Anthony Johnson

Everything was good. We had chicken & waffles and the Louisiana style po-boy. They were excellent. We highly recommend Screen Door to everyone in Portland.

Connie Chiu

Really long wait 😑 honestly the fried chicken was okay (not crispy enough). The waffles are good. I liked the biscuit and gravy . Ask for the gravy on the side so you can gravy up the chicken .

Ricky Engelberg

The waits defy logic but the food is fantastic. Love the trout for dinner ! Grits that are delicious. Tons of side vegetables in unique ways. Once in a blue moon do the fried chicken and it's crazy.

Max Wenneker

The praline bacon is one of the best food items I've ever eaten. Chicken and waffles also incredible.

Taylor E

Come early. And don't try to order chicken & waffles for dinner ... because you can't 😱.

Al S

FRIED CHICKEN . If you don't get some form of fried chicken , wings , drumsticks or the full plate, you're a damn fool.

Cee . A

Their take on chicken & waffles is just a little different from what you're probably used to. Three massive, boneless , skinless, chicken breasts . Wear your fat pants if you plan on taking it on.

Sara

You can order the chicken and waffles with 1 or 2 pieces of chicken , instead of three, if you want! A much more manageable portion :)

GNTLMN

Might be my favorite brunch spot . The wait can be ridiculous, but the food is incredible. Best chicken and waffles in Portland too. Worth the wait.

Toné M

Everything has been on point. Arrive early no reservations , worth the wait. Bring your appetite, otherwise prepare to have leftovers.

Paul Lewandowski

Their fried chicken is amazing - got a 3 piece - huge. The waffles are really good as well .

Marc Wallis

Really good food, but if you wanna avoid waiting before you get your table for dinner ... get there early before 5:30 pm opening. 5:00 to 5:10 should put you there early enough to get into the first se

Amy Lieberman

Go for the brunch . Get in line early for first seating. Make sure to try the "breakfast corndog ", served with delicious peppered maple syrup . Come hungry!!! Huge portions , but SOOO worth the occasiona

Amber

One of those places where whatever you order it's going to be good.

The BigB

Grrrreat food! The combination plates are a good opportunity to choose 3 items from the menu for a very reasonable price and complete satisfaction.

Robby Marshall

For dinner , get the three-piece dinner special for variety. For brunch , it can't be repeated enough, get the chicken and waffles . An easy contender for Portland's best reataurant.

Arthur Mitchell

A Portland homage to the South. Slender menu of deep south and Nola cusine. What they have tastes good and the helping are large.

Amy Valent

Amazing brunch spot . Chicken n' waffles are worth the long wait . Easy to share. Very efficient service and simply delicious

Al B.

Chicken and waffles or else you're missing the point of coming here. Just kidding, expect every dish to be big, satisfying, and utterly delicious :9

Tone Mosley

Long wait in line so be prepared or plan accordingly. Chicken and waffles is very good. And I've never been a fan of chicken and waffles .

Christopher Whalen

I had the fried chicken collard greens and mashed potatoes . My coworker had the shrimp and grits . Man oh man Wow Wow Wow Wow

SooFab

The food was FANTASTIC, fresh, hot and seasoned well . Portions are large I couldn't finish. A MUST TRY!

Eileen Searles

I really enjoyed the oyster po’boy sandwich and my husband devoured his cathead biscuits and gravy . Looking around, I don’t think you can lose here

Shawn Cook

The fried chicken is PERFECT. The hush puppies , the collard greens , the the the.... everything is good. EVERYTHING!!!

Bitches Who Brunch

The Bitches say: A. Delicious Southern cuisine that’s worthy of the wait and the hype. Don’t sleep on the chicken and waffles . Read more

Laura Jaques

They don't seat incomplete parties, so make sure everyone is early. Get there about an hour before u want to eat. Long lines are worth the wait.

Hillary Burkhardt

Fried chicken is the best in town (add the Mac n cheese ) and get a Texas black gold to drink. You'll die happy.

Lauren Kent

for a place that purportedly has awesome meaty dishes, it has a surprising number of veg*n options. Screen Door Plate it up! the combinations are endless.
