Grab a clam pizza & a classic tomato pizza with a side of white birch beer . SUPERB. Worth the wait & worth the hype. Their shop next door does take out so you can bring the party to wherever you want!
The white clam pizza is more unique, but the fresh tomato pie (with pepperoni , obviously) may be more delicious. Perfect food stop halfway between Boston and NYC.
Arrived Sat at 11, walked right in. Parking next door was empty too. Small clam was crispy clammy garlicy. Large original was doughy chewy cheesy, forgot homemade sausage ! Combine halves of diff pies!
If you're here from July-Sept, get the fresh tomato pizza - you won't regret it! Also a terrific little house chianti is available - such a perfect leisurely summer lunch . Totally lives up to hype!
Ya, the pizza lives up to the hype. Tried the tomato pie and the clam garlic pie. Crust is super thin and crisp. Toppings are fresh and delicious. I don't know how you do better.
Awesome no frills atmosphere. Just great pizza and beer with hyper efficient service . Don't you dare sleep on their White Clam pizza . You might find clam pizzas elsewhere but no one does it like this.
The white clam pizza is as good as they say. Thin dough almost like a naan and fresh clams cooked perfectly. Place can be packed but you can order to go.
Perfect New Haven style pizza . What this place lacks in atmosphere it gains in taste. Worth the wait. We enjoyed the clam pizza , seasonal speciality , and house special along with the house salad .
Here’s (1925-‘36) where FP created New Haven-style pizza . Original oven still here tdy. Re-opened w/ skylites as "The Spot" (w/ FP’s same menu) in ‘81, after FP’s family bought bk from Boccamiello’s
Best Pizza !! Great flavor. There is a parking lot right before the restaurant . Wait in the waiting room. They will come and get you. Can't go wrong with a yuengling and pizza !
Pizza's insane but you knew that or you wouldn't be seeking this out. The sizes are huge though! One medium is plenty for two. Picture shown is 2 mediums to give you perspective. The pepperoni is ????!
The clam pizza is a little funky. It's good but I wouldn't ONLY get the clam pizza . The tomato pie with mozzarella is fantastic. I try to come here whenever I stop in New Haven.
Like any respectable pizzeria , Frank Pepe doesn’t take reservations . The focus here was on the pizza . We ordered 4 pies: clams , pepperoni , 4 cheeses and spinach . The best!
My buddy (nyc guy) says its the best pizza in America. I find it hard to make a strong argument otherwise. If not top, then top 5? 10? Either way, worth the wait in the cold.
Keep it simple... a tomato pie with mozzarella (cheese is considered a topping with CT apizza and must be specified). Then let each ingredient do their thing... very well .
What is there to say that hasn’t already been said? This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. I feel lucky to live close by. Our favorite is the Amanti Della Carne.
Get the fresh tomato pizza when it's in season! We added onions and pepperonis to it as well . Delicious!! Definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had.
Have some pizza ! The fresh tomato pie , when in season, is a great option. And the line may be out the door, but it moves quickly.
Amazing food and atmosphere! The white spinach , mushroom , gorgonzola with chicken is a slice of heaven! All you need is a date and a glass of chianti and your set ???? ???????????? ????
It's solid and a total landmark , but not exactly the best pizzeria in the world. Both The Spot and the neighboring location have the same menu and pie, so go wherever the wait is least!
This place is legendary. I've had pizza all over the country and this is hands down the best! Known for their white clam pie , but try a shrimp , garlic and basil combo too.
Alex Guarnaschelli said original tomato pie is one of the best things she ever ate.
Hadn't been to pepe's in 20 years. We got the clam pizza and it's as divine as I remembered. Sweet clams . Tons of garlic . Crunchy thin crust . Try it. You'll like it.
The white clam pizza with the house wine is fantastic. Best time to go is during the week, few crowds. However the wait is very well worth it. So be quiet , and stand on line .
If you are visiting New Haven and you walk past this place hungry, you've got some issues. Don't forget the Mozzarella !
You'll see two separate structures : Frank Pepe's, and Original Frank Pepe's. They're the same company, same ingredients, etc. I think the "non-original" has more menu items. "Original" is just pizza .
Getting a large w/ 1/2 original tomato pie & 1/2 pepperoni & mushroom is the way to go!
Totally lives up to the hype. Super-tasty pizza . I suggest the original tomato + mozzarella and then add whatever you personally like. Treat yourself to two cold draft Peronis, too.
The. Best. Pizza . Ever. Seriously, come here to enjoy thin crust clam and fresh tomatoes pizzas , and don't forget to get a glass of chianti .
The Spot on the back is actually the original spot of Frank Pepe & the wait is usually much shorter. The pizza oven is over 100 years old!
It's not as sexy as the clam pie , but don't you dare sleep on the unadulterated original tomato pie ! At the very least, order a small to give it a try.
Frank Pepe is an icon in New Haven. The pizza is hot, cheesy and comes to the table fairly quickly. I favor the half cheese and pepperoni .
Best Brick oven pizza . Original store is the best, but their satellites are great. Expect to wait for service and seating, but worth it.
Everything here is good. I love the four cheese (doesn't sound exciting but it's heaven). Come late to skip the line .
Get the original one! Thin and delicious! The clam one that is hyped so much is a little too salty
Definitely good to call your order ahead if you don’t want to wait in the cold.
If you like coal-oven pizza , this can't be beat. Service is quick, but don't expect warm and fuzzier from the staff ...the place is a machine. Pro tip: get there before they open at 11am to get in line
I'm not a crust eater, the crust is really charred so I cut it off. I've had better fire grilled pizza . I tried the pizza per a recommendation from a friend who is from here, would rate this a 6
Try the classic tomato pie with just grated cheese for a change of pace. You may be surprised not to miss the mozzarella .
In the summer, it's the Fresh Tomato pie . But wait until later in the season... early tomatoes are not as ripe and sweet. (Oh yeah, and be prepared to wait for a table ????).
Get the 4 formaggi. Sprinkle some crushed red pepper . Get Pepe’s salad . Have a great day!
Hailed the best! Def try the Clam & fresh tomato !!! And heyy always expect a line ????
This original and nostalgic pizzeria serves one of the best pizza's that anybody can taste in his/her lifetime.
Charcoal grill means some burnt crust here and there. Best white clam pizza I’ve had! NYC has better red sauce and tomato pizza though
Nearly all the pizzas are great. The trick is their oven, so with a perfect crust, the topping options abound
There are two locations almost side by side. The smaller one that sits back from the street is the original location. I've been told it is better than the newer location.
Best pizza in CT we had the tomato pie , half mushroom , and half vegetables .. Worth the drive ;)
This is the best pizza place I have ever been to.
Legendary and certainly great pizza . Didn't love it enough to definitively call it the best pizza in New Haven.
The rumors are true. Best pizza in CT and after having the white clam pizza I now understand what all the rage is about.
Love the atmosphere, the mashed potato and bacon pizza and their own beer. Favorite place in New Haven. - Lisa Garcia
two small pies is perfect for two people to share. cash only! - Chad Horner
Best pizza ever. At least as good as Regina in Boston. Large and delicious. Perfect crust. We couldn’t stop oohing and ahhing. - Jonathan Silverman
The best cannolis and cheesecake! The kiddy cannoli or peanut butter cheesecake won't leave you disappointed. - Maya L
I will always go furniture shopping there. Great items, and prices are decent as well! - Ahmed Mohamed
You can always get great free parking here when you go to little Italy. - Alark Joshi
