The true #1 pizza in the United States… New Jersey, New York City and Chicago can fight me, but these guys consistently serve up the best mozzarella pies you could ever get in this massive country !
The crust (a definitive nexus of bready and crackery), the sauce (pure tomato tang), and the cheese (spare, and yet somehow ample) fuse into utter glory. Read more
Pepe's is the landmark , but this place for me is the best-the pies are huge rectangles served in their pans. Incredible crust topped with juicy tomato sauce . A genuinely surly staff-how I like it!
Tomato sauce , but also the mozzarella . The caprese salad is excellent. The cannoli pie and tiramisu are both outstanding, and the service is super friendly . Overall, a fantastic experience!!!
Under new ownership though original family members are still day to day operators. The pizza is the same classic Sally's appiza. Right now, no liquor license so it's BYOB !! Take advantage!
Very very good pizza , however our crust ends were a bit too burnt for my liking. It would have been perfect if they took it out of the oven about 1 minute before they did.
Great tasting coal fired pizza . Small pie is a good size for a hungry appetite. Now accepting credit cards. Good selection of drinks.
Delectable, velvety, slightly peppery tomato sauce generously applied. Hands down favorite since 1938
Try the Pizza - New Haven tradition since 1938. Worth the epic wait and rude staff .
I liked the taste of pizza but I think it’s kinda overrated. Sorry. I really like Napoli (or as you call Naples) and pizza Napoletano but this is absolutely not Napoletano.
You waited an hour so get 2 pies and a birch beer . White clam + bacon + garlic pictured.
two small pies is perfect for two people to share. cash only !
It’s nothing crazy. Half the pie is “burnt” so if you don’t like the slightly-sweet, charred flavor (almost like a burnt marshmallow ) then you’re not going to love it. Pretty simple flavors otherwise.
Sally’s has great pizza where the sauce is the star.
Have the best pizza in the entire world. They close for a month every summer, don't open for lunch , only take cash, and you'll have to wait an hour. IT'S WORTH IT.
Original Tomato with garlic and parm .
If you want to eat at 5:30, get here at 4:30 - 1 hour wait no matter what - the service is not friendly , but adequate. The pizza (hopefully) makes up for it. Our waiter was helpful w selections.
Sally's pizza is good usually get a pepperoni pie but pepe's is better but if you like a crust that isn't cooked all the way then this is for you
must get the special whites, both potato and garden
Staff is very professional and when they tell you what time your stuff will be ready there pretty accurate.
Great pizza ! It's my second favorite in New Haven. But beware, they do not take credit card . Cash only !!
Best Apizza pie on the planet
Don't sleep in the pepperoni . Although traditional is good enough
An 8.4. Lol. This is the best pizza in New Haven. Maybe the best pizza in the US. Fools who complain about waits and service just don’t appreciate the pizza enough. The pizza…is fucking worth it.
Had a great time with my daughter, long wait inside, to go orders was slowing up our dinner . My favorite out of the Big 3.
The white pizza with zucchini , garlic sauce , tomato and onion is delicious. Cherry red peppers for any meat pizza is key; def two kinds of meat is important.
Get the pizza with hot pepper and onion . It's the best pizza ever

the best.. literally THE Best
Try the Garden Pizza - Super thin crust and watery half potato/half garden pizza
Red pie...extra mozzarella , garlic , pepperoni
Best pizza I've ever had. Say hi to my cousin flo, the little old lady who sits it the front, she's the owner.
Hello SCSY delegates! I'm impressed you made it out this far from the Yale campus - now you're in for a treat! Pizza was pretty much invented here! Read more
I've tried the big 3 of new haven and therefore the world. Sally's being the last on the list. Sally's pizza wins. Hands down. Food coma ensues.
Unique, maybe even “weird” pizza—lotsa char
The best pizza imo
Get the "plain" tomato pie with garlic and some grated cheese . You'll be sold. New Haven has the country 's most solid, simple pizza .
I can understand why some reviewers might be dismayed by the wait, the atmosphere, and the service at Sally 's. Certainly, the restaurant scores low in these categories. But the people who come religio Read more
Plain with just sauce grated cheese and garlic . Awesome
It feels worth the wait after it's all over.
Pizza was great but the attitude was not. Next time I get takeout or go to Modern

modern is just as good as pepe's can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni pie! - christy robinson
Like any respectable pizzeria, Frank Pepe doesn’t take reservations. The focus here was on the pizza. We ordered 4 pies: clams, pepperoni, 4 cheeses and spinach. The best! - Eric Dallemagne
Get the goat cheese apple tartlet under Small Plates! Every bite out of this world delicious - Anna Badon
Wow traditional and chocolate cannolis for under $2 amazing deal! I went with the pianolato gelato though and it was a lot for only $2.50 - Heather
