Kerið is a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area in south Iceland
Biskupstungnabraut 801 Bláskógabyggð Iceland
Probably the most unexpectedly breath-taking sight in Iceland . Pictures don't do it justice. Also, the other large crater nearby looks out-of-this world.
Such a beautiful lake and you can hike around the entire perimeter as well as down to the water's edge. Modest entrance fee can be paid in kronur, Euros, or US dollars.
Bypass the roped path leading down to the water. Use the grass paths to have a more enjoyable (and safer!) decent to the bottom where you don't have to slip on loose gravel.
400 krona entrance fee , but great view and worth it. You can walk down to the crater or up for a full view .. or both! :)
We went in very cold weather. Walk down to the lake was insanely slippery. Don't try it without ice cleats if you see ice on the path and stairs!
Beautiful , quick stop. 400 isk entrance ( around 2.80euros ). Be careful on the stairs to the lake .
Amazing place. Make sure you hike up the other volcanos around! Will only take extra 20 mins!
Lovely. 400isk enterance fee but worth to go.
Pales a bit in comparison to other Golden Circle destinations, but worth a walk around the crater
Pay 450 ikrn for one person. Private place. Cant see anything in winter visit in spring
worth a stop if driving the golden circle - thought it was a more interesting crater than some of the other huge ones in the northeast
This little ex-volcano is bigger than expected. Worth the stop even in winter!
Beautiful in the summer! Walk down to the lake , but beware that the water is cold!
It is a must in Iceland . This place is breathtaking.
what an amazing experience to be able to step on a crater’s mouth! u can even go down to the lake
Worth a stop if you doing the golden circle trip
Stunningly beautiful. No picture can do it justice.
Sit and think about how the world could end at any moment but you're here at this gorgeous crater in this life.
You can walk around top and down to water in under 30 mins.
Breathtaking views ! Entrance fee is 400 kr, no toilets available though.
Beautiful lake , worth to visit it.
Walk around the crater and enjoy the view . Walk down into the crater and try the water - it is freezing cold!
Great spot for seeing the northern lights between August and May.
Beautiful in the summer! Not so beautiful in the winter.
I do not understand egy is it less advertised... But at least was not too crouded with tourists . Great place indeed!
Now they charge 400 kr to enter and walk around the crater .
Definitely worth stopping by if you're driving the Golden Circle
350ISK entrance fee now. "Open" 10am-8pm. Presumably free at all other times
Beautiful!
Fee is silly but still worth the stop
Colours are amazing
400 ISK entrance fee .
Beautiful everyone must see it
Definitely make a stop On Golden Circle trip
Costs $3, €2, or 350 ISK to get in.
Nice place, not much to see
Just a crater . Nth much to see. There's entrance fee of ISK400 per person
Meh. Very overrated, no idea why Bjork performed in the middle of the water here
Worth a quick stop if driving by but given so many other amazing places in Iceland , you could skip it. Especially considering it was one of few (only?) natural sights places that charged admission.
400 ISK Eintritt. Kinder kostenlos. Parkplatz vorhanden, WC nicht. Oben auf einem angelegten Pfad rumlaufen (Länge 800 m) und keine Pflanzen abreissen. Ein Treppe führt runter ans Wasser . Nett.
Magnifique cratère, magnifiques couleurs.
Desça até a borda ! Muito bonito
Conhecendo a cratera!
Natur und die Wege !

Amazing to see, slightly hard to remain on your feet on a cold, windy day but well worth the effort. - Marianne Petty
A must see tourist attraction. It seems to be better in winter than summer. A stunning view! - Murat
Cute but mini waterfall compared to Gullfoss, but you are already in Iceland, so, don't miss it! - Magaly
