You can walk up but there is also a cable car to the right hand side as you look at the building opposite the bridge . Lovely views and they had a palinka and whiskey festival at the top. Extra cost.
Monument castle on the hill above the city .There are galleries , spots to enjoy the view or admire the architecture , visit history expositions ,try some medieval activities with locals or buy some arts .
Some people have added photos here of the Matthias church ... It's a separate building about a ten minute walk away. It's not the castle . The castle is the building with the blue dome.
Don't miss the World Heritage-listed Royal Palace and Castle Hill . Home to the Hungarian National Gallery , the Budapest History Museum , famous Fishermen's Bastion, tiled roof of the Matthias Church .
Beautiful castle - a mixture of different architecture . You can still see some of the medieval castle through the history museum part.
Very pretty with great views of Danube and Pest. Museum is closed on Monday’s. Take the Funicular from the base of the castle to the top. Cool little ride.
Destroyed a rebuilt many times over the centuries. Huge impressive palace towering high on the Buda side of the river and dominating the Budapest skyline.
Save some money and do not take funicular nor castle buses to get to the top - it's just so easy to walk to the left of funicular (slight elevation ) and take the free elevator to the top.
Beautiful art and building, picture perfect grounds outside. The castle is a must when visiting Budapest. Area surrounding the museum has lots to explore and see as well .
I guess my fav place in the city . Perfect for walking - if you don't mind walking a lot - and have plenty of spare time. Totally worth the visit, the view is stunning!
Grand and huge. A short walk from Fisherman's bastion. If you are coming from Clark Adam Tér then a short climb or take the lifts. Avoid the funicular . See the royal guard on horses.
Amazing view from the castle , great for a long walk around a silent neighbourhood. When visiting, don't miss Ruszwurm confectionary and the National Gallery either!
Amazing view at night! Bring a tripod. Don't buy the return ticket for funicular . Walk down.
Brilliant view of Budapest from this castle .. Such a good idea to go there at night! Of course the castle is also beautiful building and it's necessary to see it..
A beautiful site, but don't waste your time and money to go inside or eat at the onsite restaurants . Best move: go in the morning or after lunch time, late in the afternoon.
Stunning! The views amazing...access to galleries , museums and a beautiful church st matthaus from here. Really lovely. Great for photography .
You can see much of the city from here and witness the changing of the guard in front of the presidential home -- closer than you could ever get to the White House.
Really interesting museum , but take an audio guide, otherwise it will be not that thoughtful. Exhibition starts from the top platform and it takes about 2 hours with a guide.
It's a castle . A lot of ancient bricks and statues . Clean place, a lot of things to see if you like history.
There's scenic view from all directions. Seeing across szechengyi bridge and parliament building or viewing the buda castle .
Very nice place. Plan several hours to walk around and take some photos
Best view from the top, specially at sunset ????
Spend an hour or two just walking the grounds - full of interesting nooks and great views of the city
Amazing views . A great place to explore and get a view from above the river and city .

Huge beautiful castle with permanent and temporary exhibitions . History museum .
It was really nice for a walk and very atmospheric. The views are amazing and when it's lit at night its beautiful.
A must see of this city ... Prices can be a little high, so make sure to eat beforehand, or better yet, bring a picnic to enjoy as you overlook the entire city of Pest..!
The castle inside isn't great unless you go to a museum . But the view is spectacular and it's a great place to spend an afternoon
Prepare your Camera and take a tour around. Best places to take photos: north-east side and East side (to the parliament ).
combination of extreme architecture with perfect budapest view
You should definitely visit it at night as well ! The castle AND the castle district!
One of the meautiful part of the city .

Beautiful baroque castle on top of a hill . Wonderful views of the city .
On the castle terraces there're amazing viewpoints on Pest, Danube. The Castle itself has a huge territory

I would visit the exhibitions again at any time. You have to invest at least two hours. Some parts of the exhibition are only offered as part of an guided tour. - Rene T.
