Before you hit your next shot on the road again, tip your cap to the red-headed stranger. Willie is immortalized in this 8-foot bronze statue . You’re also steps away from Austin City Limits .
Stop by when there's a party at the W Hotel and you might just get to see the statue dressed up to match the theme. He looks good in a lei.
The statue was unveiled on April 20, 2012 at precisely 4:20 p.m. Nelson played "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" as members of the audience puffed away on joints. Not a single person was arrested.
Be sure to read the plaque a few feet right of the statute! Smoke on, Mr. Nelson ...
Smoke a toke with the one and only. Austin City Limits sign is right there, too, so kill 2 birds with one stone. #ynottravel
