I had the hot beef sandwich . Very good and juicy, not the best I have ever had but definitely worth a try. Very cool atmosphere with a 50's vibe. Worth a visit!

I eat here weekly and in 3+ years I haven't eaten anything but the chopped salad and the occasional large fry. I know the hot dogs are great, but I regret nothing... the salad is just that good.

All of their salads at Barnelli's are PERFECTLY mixed, no one ingredient overpowers the other. I recommend the Mediterranean, Hot Chicken Caesar , and Chopped salads .

Went there for the first time yesterday. Hot dogs blew my mind!! Love the dog all the way. Must try the strawberry shake its made w real strawberries .

I was very disappointed that this Portillos didn't have the lemon poppyseed chicken salad on the menu. It's my FAVORITE thing & I've been able to order it at every other Portillos I've eaten at.

Chicago visitors: This is the only italian beef in Chicago worth it's weight in gold. Ignore the tv hype about Al's; I tried it, mediocre at best... Portillos is busy for all good reasons

Amazing Chicago Style food

Get in the Barnelli's line instead. It's the best "fast" italian food anywhere. My go-to order is the chicken al-diavolo (spicy and delicious). Ask for extra bread , it doesn't cost extra.

They have plenty of great food, but of course the Chicago Hot Dog has to be one of the very best!

Always ask for well done fries . There always fresh then and taste so much better then soggy fries

Almost everything here is good. The Cake Shake is unique and worth a try.

Best hot dogs in Chicago , but no comparison to the Family Dog in Orono, Maine.

Long line . Everyone before me & beside me swiped & paid the cashiers . Older white guy takes my debit card; looks at it... looks at me... and asks me for a picture ID. For a sandwich & iced tea . Hmm...

Cheese fries & croissant cheddar beef sandwich are a must. So good!

Get the Jumbo dog with cheese fries and the Keith Mac half tea/half lemonade (no ketchup on the dog for you non-northerners out there)

The penne arriba arriba arriba with sausage ...or chicken al'diavlo...or pheasant pasta...everything is on point!

Pretty much all the food is good here! Got to have a hotdog if you have never had one. Take people from out of town here, they'll love it!

It's best to come during lunch time. It's a lunch type of fast-paced atmosphere. Like an old 50's diner . Great food.
