The changing of the guards : 12:15 Mon-Sat & 13:15 Sun. Stand outside the courtyard for a better view , see them coming up the hill . The first 5 min are the best, more extravagant during summer months .
Tree times a year there are official state visits during which the guests can stay at the Royal Palace . We were waiting for the Portuguese President who arrived minutes after the photo had been taken.
