The Royal Palace in Stockholm is the official residence of His Majesty the King, the Head of State. This is where the Head of State performs his constitutional, state ceremonial and official duties, together with the rest of the Royal Family, who assist the Head of State in his duties.
Slottsbacken (Gamla Stan) 111 30 Stockholm Sweden
A very attractive palace and home to the boss. If you're looking to watch the changing of the guard (of course you are): be sure to get there early, it can get very busy! It's a wonderful experience.
Well worth a visit when in town . The guided tour gets you access to the representation rooms, the royal treasury and the old historic museum underneath the palace ; a trip through hundred years of time
During summer time, visit just after opening or just before closure, to avoid crowds. Tends to get very warm so be sure to have had something to drink before entering (no AC in the 1600s). Enjoy!
Been to lots of royal palaces but this one really stuck out. Quite impressive. Intricate ceilings in many rooms, beautiful parquet floors, and some really wonderful portraits. Worth the trip. ????????
Closed on Mondays and during official receptions.
There's a lot to see in this palace . It does not mean everything is worth though. But there are a few art masterpieces that make the visit a must do. Don't forget to watch the ceilings.
A Changing of Guards ceremony takes place daily at 12.15 pm from April to August. Duration will approximately be 40 minutes. Make sure to get there early (11.45?) to get a good spot.
The tours are very knowledgeable and well worth the 20 kr.
Definitely take the tour for the royal apartments and the treasury . You might need to reserve couple days before because they fill up quick.
Interesting place to visit for history buffs but may come off as underwhelming compared to other European palaces . Crown Jewels do not begin to compare to those in the UK.
The sight is amazing, also its in the Old Town area so it cant be missed
The Royal Palace of Stockholm is the working residence of Sweden's monarch and the Royal Family. Parts of it is open to visitors year round, sometimes venues are closed for royal representation.
The interiors somehow remind IKEA with addition of baroque and gold. Fairly basic, apart from really nice Queen Kristina's silver throne in Hall of States - the most famous treasure of the castle .
If you are in “gamla stan” you need to visit the royal palace ! You will love it!
Too confusing to walk around even with a map ???? lovely gift shop . And helpful staff .
Free Wi-Fi only in the Chapel area. Pretty huge complex, so you might need 2 hours to visit all the rooms and exhibits .
The Kungliga Slottet (0046 8 402 6130; royalcourt.se, £14) is one of the few European palaces permanently open to the public. Make for the unostentatious Royal Apartments .
Huge palace but very gloomy and depressing because all the drapes are closed. Better watch the changing of the guards at 12:15h outside.
Near the water for great photos also if you are lucky you will get to see the change of Guard .
Make sure you catch the free English tour every day 14:00 and 15:00 o'clock. Meeting place The Hall of State .
Absolutely Beautiful Interior . Do not miss it.
Check out the changing of the guards parade . Be aware and don't get swarmed by street performers and other beggars.
If you have seen the royal jewels in England you're going to be disappointed by the ones in Sweden Junior Varsity BIGTIME.
Pay attention: in one of the last rooms of Bernardotte's Apartments , you can see Francesco Botticini's "Portrait of a Boy" and "Madonna and Child" by Piero di Cosimo.

Near by the water it is a beautiful area for photos.
In a beautiful location wonderful tour of rich traditional history
Bernadette rooms are my favorite. Don't forget the change of guard
A perfect spot to get a great vie over Norrbro, the Parliament and the Opera.
A great building! Definitely one of the most beautiful Parliaments I’ve seen)
Changing of the guards is a somewhat short experience, but fun enough and cheap , if you are in Gamla Stan and have nothing else to do.
Changing of the guard happens once a day at 12:15 PM
Catch Royal Marching Band and their superb music and precision skills.
In the Gamla Stan or "old town ", worth visiting that area
Free with Stockholm Card and free guided tours .
The story about the palace is interesting but the treasury room and the other museums around the palace was disappointing
Watch the Royal Marching Band and the changing of the Royal guard here on Sundays.
The Royal Apartments was quite interesting, especially with a guided tour it is even better. But the rest is very disappointing.
