Sorry, SoCal, but San Francisco takes the cake for best ice cream in the state . This Mission District hot spot draws lines any time of day, any time of year. The salted caramel is one of a kind. Read more
Their ice cream is amazing, and the cashiers are really nice about giving you samples! Highly recommend the Honey Lavender and Orange Cardamom . Salted Caramel sample was too sweet imo
Salted caramel & strawberry balsamic! Also black sesame and strawberry coconut . Honey lavender was too soap-y or maybe it was just a bad combo & needs to be enjoyed on its own
This place is so good! Very unique, and original! That huge line , is worth waiting for! I had the ginger and honey lavender and I loved every bite of it! Best ice cream I've ever had can possibly have
You can't go wrong with classic flavors like ricanelas or roasted banana , but don't overlook their seasonal offerings either! The renovated space has a few seats too if you need to get out of the sun!
Very tasty ice cream , creamy and soft, but with huge demand. Expect long queues. Great location. Definitely worth the wait. Grab and ice cream and enjoy it by the park . 3 out of 5 cones
Oh my lanta! Wednesday's soft serve flavors - peanut butter and banana are amazing. Flavors get a bit lost as a swirl so perhaps enjoy separately. Soft serve window opens at 3pm on weekdays.
I got a double cup with three "small" scoops of honey lavender , basil and balsamic strawberry . Oh.Em.Gee. The scoops were huge and the taste of each is perfection. You can taste some before ordering.
Mix and match flavors like green tea and balsamic strawberry with fixings like graham crackers , spiced pecans , and almond toffee—or go a more purist route with a scoop of salted caramel . Read more
The chocolate ice cream was smooth & sweet to perfection while the hazelnut with dandelion chocolate 's cocoa nibs was like cold heaven in my mouth. I will definitely go back there. Read more
You can't pick a bad flavor! Totally worth the wait in line for salted caramel and toasted coconut . Their ice cream sandwiches are also yummy! Head over to the park once you've ordered and enjoy!
Salted caramel is my long-time favorite. The new favorites are sesame seeds and lavender . Try to come on weekday to escape the line
Bi-rite is a must if you're ever in San Francisco. There are long lines but they move along quickly. The cookie sandwiches are delicious!
The vegan chocolate coconut is my favorite! This is a double I got with mint chocolate chip . Fabulous! Always positive people behind the counter which makes the wait worth it.
If you get a cone , get a cup. Dear Foursquare, please attach this tip to every ice cream shop in the galaxy. (Also, get the malted vanilla !)
While everything in this place is pretty mouth-watering, sample a few of their seasonal flavors like cherry almond , balsamic strawberry or Sonoma honey . Then just get all of them in one cone . Read more
Can't go wrong with ANY flavor here!! My faves--salted caramel , creme fraiche , balsamic strawberry , brown sugar caramel ginger swirl!! Awesome ice cream . Be patient. Line goes quickly. Worth it.
I only had the pleasure to visit this establishment once, but that's all you need to experience pure bliss in ice cream form. I recommend the banana split sundae ; you can't go wrong with classic.
Honey lavender and mint chip were standouts, definitely get the sea salt topping as it gives a savory+sweet kick to already amazing flavors!
Soft serve next door is also very good. Not too many flavor but the salted caramel is delicious!
Pleasantly surprised that the soft serve is even better than the scoops in that they are not as sweet. This is the Pumpkin . I recommend not mixing flavours cos they tend to be more subtle.
Always try the seasonal flavored . Malted vanilla is very good - it isn't just vanilla . Has peanut brittle , yum! Expect a line , but it moves quickly and is worth it.
Everyone loves salted caramel ice cream but I personally love roasted banana ! Really strong banana flavors . It's busy so prepared to wait in line for like 20 mins or so.
Don't let the long line discourage you, it tends to move quickly. Salted Carmel is amazing. You can alway pick up a pint at the their store down the road instead of waiting.
The ice cream is good here. Check out the seasonal flavors . Flavors like "balsamic strawberry " and "Blue Bottle coffee with alfieri almonds and chocolate chips " are intriguing and nice.
Got the salted caramel and roasted banana , salted caramel was AMAZING with a rich complex flavor profile (sweet, salty, bitter) and the toasted banana was VERY banana-y.
Fun flavors! They'll let you taste as many as you want, but be careful because you will want to eat them all. Simply the best.
Yoga in Dolores Park on Sunday mornings conveniently ends when Bi-Rite opens. Perfect opportunity to get a scoop before a line begins to form. Ice cream : breakfast of champions.
You can't go wrong with the ice cream here. All the flavors I have tried have been excellent. Try the brownie sundae . Roasted pecan clusters really make this indulgent treat.
I love that they have such unique flavors! My favorite is the rincanelas. The ice cream cakes and pies are good as well , especially the grasshopper pie !
Good ice cream - always a line , but moves quickly. Can try different flavors (Earl Grey is tasty!) and the sundaes are good too. Bring an appetite!
So many great flavors! Ask for samples and try the different options! My personal favorites are sea salt caramel , honey lavender , and creme brûlée
Love the place. Their ice cream is super creamy. Love when they add salted caramel on any thing. Don't miss out on their baked goods .
Top 3 of ice cream places in SF. If the spicy chocolate is on, double scoop and whipped cream will take you to ice cream heaven.
the black sesame is an absolute must have - it's basically black sesame soup (a chinese dessert ) in ice cream form!
Do NOT come to SF’s famous bakery and ice cream mecca on a diet. Instead: get two scoops of the Blue Bottle Coffee ice cream . Read more
Everyone recommends trying the Salted Caramel your first time (although good) but I liked the Balsamic Strawberry much better! MMMmmmMmm good.
If you can't handle the line , skip ahead to the soft serve counter. But a cone of Ricanelas is so worth the wait.
Roasted banana and kiwi orange sorbet are amazing!! Also, the blue bottle coffee flavor is great, and basically tastes exactly like strong coffee !
They often list ice cream combination recommendations, but ask your ice cream scooper if they have any personal faves you should try! I love the cookies & cream + mint combo (tastes like Thin Mints !).
Best ice cream I've ever had. There are usually long lines but they're worth the wait. Salted caramel and Ricanelas are especially delicious.
Never eat an ice cream so good. Everything is home made ! Try the ice cream of the week and make your custom Sunday !
Skip the line ! You can skip the line if you are buying pre-packaged goods. This includes candy , cookies , pints of ice cream , and best of all: ice cream sandwiches ! Single serving, no wait, delicious.
Skip the line of 80 hipsters waiting in 45 degree weather for ice cream & instead get a pint to go in your car and enjoy it in peace at home. (assuming you are one of those who have a car and a home.)
Trifecta combo was divine: salted caramel , brown sugar with ginger caramel swirl, and malted vanilla with peanut brittle and chocolate
Brown Sugar , Ricanelas , Salted Caramel , Cookies & Cream . (You're welcome) Also, check out Oink for the top rated items by all sorts of people. It works great at Bi-Rite where tons have Oinked items...
Salted caramel is a must for first-timers, but don't neglect the rest of the menu. Every flavor is well-thought out and delicious.
I liked that they let me try many different flavours before I decided which to take. I didn't enjoy salted caramel as many do, but I had no problem to pick.
So good! I had vanilla ice cream with milk chocolate and pieces of snickerdoodle . Delicious!
Best quality ice cream in CA. Period. Their Earl Grey is my fav! Honey lavender was meh. The best quality and taste, no doubt!
New favorite place🤤. Try hojicha cheese tea - tastes like melted ice cream with a subtle taste of tea (and not over sweet, just the right amount) - heavenly! - Evgeniy Dankovtsev
