Incredible museum ! A MUST if you visit Indy, also remember to visit the Lily House before 5pm. A whole day is needed to visit both the museum and the gardens !
It's wonderful. The 2nd floor houses the American and European galleries among others. The African gallery and the Asian gallery are on the 3rd floor. But the 4th floor has two of my favorite pieces.
Despite all of the tips that claim "free admission", they now charge $18 admission . Big difference.

Went to Art in the Park ! It is going on every Sunday in Sept. & October. Chance to create your own art masterpiece. Also saw the Autumn Equinox performance . It was an amazing show even for the adults!

You have to check backpacks, but if you're using it as a diaper bag, you can take it in if you wear it across your chest. Also, kids are not allowed to ride on parents' shoulders in the galleries .
I saw so many very good museums so far and this museum is literally fantastic one. There are a lot of exhibits and marvelous art works there.
The Museum first opened to the public in 1906 under the John Herron Art Institute & was later moved here to its permanent residence in1910 where more than 5000 residents came out for the opening night

I've taken my daughter here on a number of occasions. I've takes dates here on a number of occasions. A great spot for all occasions.
If you look like a professional photographer , they *will* make you put your gear away. They now require a $50/day or $400/year pass to be a pro... and they *do* check.
The trail in the 100 acres is a little over grown but it was a fun location for a 1st date.
Parking in the main lot and garage is $5 for the public, free for members. The north lot and outlying lots are still free.
The grounds are beautiful, great place for a picnic ! LOTS of photographers and families/students/couples taking advantage of the photo ops, too.
Park at the Lilly House for free and enjoy the beautiful walk to the main museum .
Beautiful place to hold a meeting, team building event or networking function. The catering is awesome!

The Rocky Horror Show is a must do every year, but make sure you get there early if you are not a member or you will not get in.
Make sure to check out the Andy Warhol - Enterprises exhibit . It gave me the chills. Such an amazing show and artist !

Don't bother trying to sneak wine in. They have it inside and will check your bag. A bottle is $28 which is pretty much what you'd pay at a restaurant . Tonight's movie is Revel Without a Cause.
