Love, love, love this place. What a great vibe and amazing drinks. Make sure you order a whiskey smash (it's not on the menu ), but oh my god they know their whiskey .
Hits capacity pretty early so you should get there by 9pm on Fri/Sat if you don't want to spend a while waiting in line . An extensive beer list and one of the best old fashioneds in Sydney
This place started the wave of kitschy-but-good small bars in Sydney. Hidden door (aside from the queue), free table snacks , great cocktails and beers , and bartenders who know what they’re doing. Win!
Hands down my new favorite bar ! Come for the extensive whiskey list and craft beers , but stay for the twangy old school folk music and obscene amount of taxidermy
Good luck finding this Laneway underground bar - there is no visible sign (hint, plain white door)! Try bourbon & fresh apple juice ...or one of so many bourbons on offer.
Enter via Foley St and carefully find a door with the writing of Shady Pines. Please be careful because once you enter, it's much darker and there are steps to go down to the bar area.
Love the whiskey apples . And they do a solid whiskey sour...with a teeny American flag toothpick to warm my American heart.
Pure awesome. Best for rainy days; it takes you all the way to.. Canada? A bit noisy but cozy and nice for a catch up. Get in early or be ready to queue.
The swill-house sister of top 50 bar Baxter Inn , Shady Pines is a sort of Australian Wild West saloon affair, with monkey nuts , beer , taxidermy and raucousness never in short supply.
So hard to find this bar ! But once you're inside, you're in another world. Cocktails are really good but expensive and when crowded , you'll be waiting a long while to get the bartender 's attention.
It's all about the cocktails . Don't order a specific drink - just tell them a base spirit (try whisky , rum , tequila or gin - no to vodka ) & a pref for sweet, strong or sour, and enjoy the surprise
New cocktail menu is unreal. For the fellas, you must try the American Trilogy, best whiskey cocktail in Sydney.
Another hideaway that you may not find if not for the Sat night queue. Check out the preserved wildlife on the walls. Has a mini menu of whiskies compared to The Baxter Inn
Vegetarians beware, the decor is OTT, with every animal that you can think of shot and mounted covering every bit of wall space http://barchick.com/find-a-bar/sydney/shady-pines
Don't be fooled by the size of the line in the alley. Even at 20 deep, you'll usually be inside within 10-20 minutes. And remember to stay on the kerb to avoid the wrath of the bouncers.
This place is fantastic! Unassuming entrance via an unmarked door . The place is full of impressive taxidermy & feels like you've walked into the set of Coyote Ugly.
Respectable whiskey menu and great whiskey cocktails . More tables upstairs if downstairs gets a bit crowded .
I love the creative cocktails , as well as the environment, they hit my favorite point: hidden bar .
Loved that cute tiny bar ! Never liked whisky before but was before trying it with fresh apple juice or sour... So good !
Good luck finding this laneway underground bar - there is no visible sign (hint, plain white door)! Try bourbon&fresh apple juice ...or one of so many bourbons on offer.
I stuck to the beer but according to the wife apple and vodka is incredible. They have Longrow CV whisky here too, proving they know something about whisky !
Terrifically dark saloon with excellent drinks and equally good service . Do right and get the Puma cocktail .
If I lived here, this would be my go-to watering hole. Great ambience and drink selection.
Feels like you've been transported into some kind of weird wild west movie . Good vibe and great cocktails .
Great little underground bar with a great western vibe. Grab a beer to have with the peanuts . Also has no sign so look out for the people smoking outside...
Seriously - THE bar to go to. Classy drinks, international crowd and US 20's atmosphere
Top! Very crazy pub . I like the decor
Different theme but similar to Baxters. Enjoyed the novelty, good vibe and sir I will return.
One of their strongest cocktails is the fog cutter. But ask for it at your peril ;)
Hidden gem and very much a saloon vibe. Great cocktails .
Wednesday night. full tables and bar , still room to move. Setup a little $30 tab and ended up getting a bonus upgrade to spirits when grabbed the 2nd round beers ; heaps relaxd. perfect stopoff/starter
This place is just brilliant - not only the atmosphere, also the drinks!
Cool atmosphere for a couple of drinks. I LOVED the margarita I had, would go back again just for that!
Great selection of whiskies and beers , awesome staff knowing really well what they do.
A MUST if you're in Sydney, It's just off oxford street, near American Apparel
Another vote for whiskey and apple . Also the staff here is great. Totally coming back.
The Smokey Filibuster is the best drink on the menu.
You seriously can't go wrong with the old fashioneds in this place. Delish!
Freshly squeezed apple juice and vodka whilst frolicking with the taxidermy animals is always a laugh!
Try the vodka with freshly squeezed apple juice or the whiskey sour with an American flag. Yee-haw!
Try a whiskey and apple . Fresh and delicious.
Ha, this bar is more American than I am. And that's saying something. (Bartenders were a little snobby but at least knew their shit). The taxidermy made my day.
Awesome drinks and cocktails ! Also great atmosphere :)
Come for the music--nice playlist of country greats.
Cocktail served in a boot... Nice.
If the guy at the door asks if uve been here before say yes u gay tosser. Once inside expect high quality and interesting drinks but they cost a bomb. kinda need to appreciate quality whisky
I would give you a tip about what to drink however the drinks are so awesome I can't remember the night before
You must stay in the bar until they play "big fanny."
Try the Chimay Blue. It s an excellent belgian trappist beer . But be careful, 9% alc/vol.
Best pub ; best atmosphere; gr8 beers ; just try to find it! Word of mouth only!
Swinging gin bar with live acid jazz band on Thurs. Seasonal cocktails menu, try the Pimm's and Shave & Tonic (G&T twist). $50 haircuts are pricey but come with friendly professionalism house beer. - Dennis Le
Fantastic speakeasy with great cocktail selection and friendly bartenders. Creative cocktail list but even better to give your bartender free reign. Only downside: too many suits ordering Stellas - Carmen Sutter
Very friendly service. Loved the Croquetas de porcini w/ smoked provolone & chipotle mayonnaise. Relaxed atmosphere to enjoy some share plates and not busy to grab a table on a weeknight - Mel Mc
This isn't the greatest pub, but it isn't busy so it's an easy break from the busyness of Oxford street. - Elliot Chance
