If you are a history buff, then you should never miss this place. Truly a world class museum !!! The best of Chinese history is well preserved here. I could literally spend an entire day here.
Lots of history in one place. Can't take pictures inside and usually there's many groups of Chinese tourists , so prepare yourself to spend a couple of hours to make sure to check everything. A must go
One of the top museums of the world, you can't help but be amazed by the sheer range of exhibits . Jade and pottery rooms our favourites. Go early am to avoid massive tour groups
I usually would skip museums in my itinerary but this place was worth visiting. There's so many amazing artifacts to check out.
A must-visit Taipei museum with treasures "stolen" from China, especially from the Forbidden City . Showcases exceptional masterpieces and highlights Taiwan's connection to China.
A handbag/purse/wallet with 2 straps like a backpack--no matter how small--must be left at the coat-check or locker. But a purse/handbag--no matter how large--with only 1 strap, you may keep with you.
Best collection of authentic Chinese artifacts in the world. The paintings and calligraphy are mostly imperial collection from the Qing Dynasty. You can see chops of those emperors affixed to them.
Interesting difference between the Japanese tour groups (really quietly talking and small movements, lots of nodding) vs. mainland Chinese tour groups (really loud and take up a lot of space)
Collection is amazing enjoyed a lot ..but not that large than I expected...(haha!) so many Chinese tourist from main land...
Credit cards can only be used for admission ticket. Cash only for audio guide. There's a post office downstairs which offers currency exchange .
Go straight to 301 to check out the meat shaped stone and jade cabbage , two of the most well known pieces in the museum . Avoid weekend tour groups by going on an early weekday.
Not a big museum but it has an impressive collection of Chinese artifacts from various dynasties.Spare@least 1/2 day.Easiest way 2get here:take bus 620,681,683,957 from nearest MRT(Jiannan Road Stn).
Very nice museum with some very rare specimens. Or better said unique. I suggest visiting on weekdays to avoid huge crowds that come in on weekends and holidays.
As a South African, you'll have to bite your tongue while they show off rhino horn carvings and boast about rhino hirn's legendary Viagra-like properties. Get past that and this is an amazing museum .
The finest collection of Art , it's a world class museum with the best chinese treasuries. Crowded by tourist even on a weekday, try avoid weekend tour groups .
Must-visit museum in taipei to see the cabbage jade and do bo rou (braised meat) jade. Check out their painting exhibitions too.
There are always hoards of Chinese tour groups vying to crowd around the masterpieces--but they are truly exquisite. The ceramics are probably my favorites though, so be sure to save time for those!
This place is so wonderful and I am glad that the Chinese treasures are well maintained here and being put on a good show. I will make it a point to spend half a day here everytime I come Taipei!
Crowded beyond belief, even on weekdays in the morning. Massive tour groups make it impossible to enjoy the pieces in the museum . Great museum but poorly run and executed...
Silk , jade, wood, ivory, gold, calligraphy, bronze,... Huge museum design as an old Chinese palace ... A must to do in taipei (160 ntd)
You can spend a whole day here. Such a huge museum with possibly the best collection of Chinese arts in the world!
World class museum with the best Chinese treasures! They run it well with good design of space, lighting, sound and AV technology
Must see...really amazing museum ... there are tons of old things which it can't believe its all make my human handmade (⊙o⊙)
This is where you'll find arguably the finest collection of Chinese art . Don't miss the important items "One Hundred Horses" painting and the "Jadeite Cabbage ." Open daily from 8:30am to 6:30pm.
Visit evenings (extended hour days only) and avoid the large tour groups. Also note the famous cabbage is sometimes moved to other branch.
y gotta visit this exhibit if u get the chance. and yes go early to avoid the massive zergling rush.
A place of history, culture, and knowledge . To avoid crowds, go on weekdays.
These materials are now showcased in the present exhibition to allow the audiences an opportunity to get to know the important achievements of the Qing dynasty in river regulating and engineering .
I've been here for the mummies exhibition from the British Museum . The most important tip I can give is: DONT GO ON WEEKENDS!
A great museum to scan through the Chinese art history !
Arrive early (830am?) to check out the other galleries whilst u await your guided tour to start as the guide will only show u highlights in the 1 hour tour .
One of my favorite museums in the world. Want to know more about China history or art ? Come over here. You won't regret ^^
Great stuff ! Take your time and dont miss the legendary cabbage !
If only you are interested with chinese history, calligraphy or arts else skip this place. Best to go early at 8.30am to avoid the tourist crowd. Entry fee is TWD160.
If you need to escape the maddening (and exceedingly noisy ) crowds, the 4th floor cafe is a tranquil respite for a tea break. Prices are ok too.
It's best to visit either immediately after the opening time or an hour before closing to avoid the rather massive crowd!
Pretty cool and great audio guide(highly recommend)
There is a southern branch of this museum in Chiayi so relics have been exhibited in two places.
A great museum ruined by tour groups. On a Saturday this museum is louder than any market in town .
Free English tour @ 15:00 every afternoon!!!Lots of loud tourists from China!!! Those Chinese kids were outta control, running around screaming & the parents just let them be ... can't really enjoy..
It seems that the exhibition are rotating less. The 3rd floor is exactly the same as 2 years ago and is reserved for the tour groups. Wait till the late afternoon for the 3rd floor
The exhibition is great. The collection, marvellous. The crowd? Noisy and pushy mainlanders. Be prepared. This is now a tourist attraction , no longer a museum .
don't be afraid to push back on mainlanders who try to push you out of the way to get a better view of the exhibits .
Impressive treasures. But way to crowded with mainland-Chinese-groups that are loud and annoying and push you around 😑
If you are a Taiwanese resident, show your ID to get free admission on Friday and Saturday night
A huge of tourist groups if you visit late. The best time is early.
You may have the best Chinese Culture Experience in this museum . NPM collects the most delicate artifacts and paintings and Calligraphies .
Don't bother getting the audio guide and plan to spend at least a whole afternoon if you want to appreciate the art . Also, you cannot take any pictures.
Make sure that you bring an oxygen tank! Busy with Taiwanese tourgroups and schoolkids! Excellent teahouse on floor 4 with beautiful views .
Bring a jacket ! It's freggin freezing in here. Also avoid weekends when there are large tour groups.
Very tasty restaurant and the service is also very good! Dishes are well done and they look beautiful! A must after a tour of the museum. - Min-hsuan W.
It is either crowded on Friday morning. #Pushkin - 麗儀 張
The pork and braised beef were flavorful, smaller portions perfect for lunch in between exploring the museum. Ending the meal with tea and enjoying the view is a great way to relax in the afternoon. - Michael Schuler
A less visited tourist attraction but a good one, especially the calligraphy section. - B
A great place to indulge yourself with the history of the town. Multiple hot spring resorts are around. Make sure to pay one a visit when you're done. - Ibrahem
很多互動式參觀的設施,包括聞香牆、可以摸的舊磚瓦,中藥實體展示等。另外也提供很多舊時童玩。適合親子一同參觀。 - Flora Liu
One of my favorite spots in Taipei (when there aren’t too many tourists around). Enjoy the classical Chinese architecture set against nature, and learn about the (very complex) history of the ROC. - Nathan
Go up and eat/drink at a high floor with a view. Try DTF's different types of XLB. Go to the Body Shop there and get their HEMP range of products! - Jzin T
I was not expecting anything special, but this café has great food and drinks. Try the brownie, plain cheesecake, crème brûlée french toast, pearl iced coffee with milk, and latté. All good! - Warren Lain
