Porterhouse is one of the best in NYC. Their home made sauce is one of a kind. Fabulous presentation of the dry-aged beef room in front of the entrance.
It has an open kitchen , a raw bar , oak floorboards, and red leather booths . The menu still includes many of the classic steaks and sides. Read more
Porterhouse for two was so good, hashbrowns while good wouldnt get next time, & Mac & Cheese while hot was delicious, but only okay when it cooled off. Cesar, Wedge & Beet salads were very tasty too!
The beef carpaccio was a great appetizer and absolutely drooled over the 10oz Filet Mignon with Blue Cheese crust. This place is fantastic old New York (despite the pandemic).
The place could definitely use a facelift but it remains a NYC classic. Can’t go wrong with any of their steaks but don’t let the chicken parm scare you. ????
Loved the porterhouse , strawberry shortcake , sauteed corn , mashed potatoes . Good but strong old fashioned and french 75. Impeccable service!
Prime rib for two was very good, but could use a little more marbleization, mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy and delicious. The Brussels were a little undercooked.
Outstanding experience all around. The filet mignon is tender and delicious. The wine list is extensive and the service was friendly and professional. Classic NYC dining experience!
standard porterhouse for two, kingly prime rib , and even a humble chopped steak . Like filet mignon ? Chef Alan Ashkinaze will season your beef eight different ways.
We took friends from over seas to this classic NY steakhouse . If you get an app, wedge salad ! You really don't need the whole steak , split it and get a couple sides.
One of the best steaks I have ever had in my life. Amazing atmosphere and very kind staff .
My first time here and it was a wonderful experience. Service and meal was fabulous! Recommend the Porterhouse . We will definitely be coming again.
dry-aged steaks cooked to perfection!! great music-great atmosphere-a historic place that has preserved the feeling!
Amazing steak and the service was exceptional. Price is what a really good New York steakhouse is. However it is worth it. Need a reservation .
You will be amazed before you enter the restaurant , because the meat locker is impressive and visible from the outside. The porterhouse steak is excellent!
Perfect lunch menu . Midium of filet mignon , soup of the day, and ice cream . Must visit place in New York.
Restaurant Week 3-course lunch menu for only $29 is absolutely amazing and what a great deal!
Everything is awesome. Deserts look unreal - except I was too full on excellent steak and appetizers to even consider one.
During a recent lunch visit , I had to contend with a foul odor upon arrival. Steak and swordfish very good. The waiters have sung Happy Birthday too many times !
Awesome service and even better food. The waiter was extremely friendly and dedicated, and I️ loved the filet mignon and mac and cheese :)
Their version of an Old Fashioned doesn't disappoint. Paul is a great bartender ! The lobster and shrimp dumplings are delicious!
Forget the pricy Porterhouse , bone-in filet and rib-eye. At just $24 the chopped steak (a supple grind of rib-eye, chuck and short ribs ) delivers magic its more expensive cousins don’t. Read more
Also, the texture and quality of sirloin steak is amazing, but the taste is somewhat plain if you are used to heavy seasoned food . Don't forget to see the beautiful aged beef at the walk-in=]
Food was great. Definitely worth your money especially for restaurant week. Get the filet mignon . Very soft and juicy!
Go to steak place in the Theatre district area. Good Old Fashions. Try here or Striphouse for great food pre-show.
Service, food and all patrons. Great for a theatre district steak house !
Nice ambiance and three-course lunch special for $29 is awesome.
Like the pre-fix menu on Restaurant week. The fillet minion is so tender and juicy
Arrive before 530 if flying solo and you would like to sit at the bar !
Loved. Porterhouse and filet. Amazing cheesecake . Great oysters and brussels.
Location is great, awesome environment and service is superb. Steak is ok, but not the best in my opinion, also, it is very expensive .
A porterhouse for 3 is enough to serve 5. Nice atmosphere, very friendly service .
Holy buckets of liquor . Get a manhattan , it’s got the booze of two!
Atmosphere and steaks
Gallagher's is the only steakhouse in New York City that grills its steaks over hickory coals – and the burgers are no exception. Read more
Good for dates , steaks grilled in flames, which makes them taste burned, more than just grill charred
Imagine a dark steakhouse scene from a PT Anderson or Tarantino movie . Add about 80 people, a (literal) doorway room full of carcasses, and a staff of jittery (powdery?) caucasian middle ages waiters
Make sure you have a reservation but if you get in early enough, you can get a seat at the bar
So here is the deal. I got the rib steak . The meat was very tender but the cooking was awful. Very unevenly grilled. From well done to raw next to the bone. I had ordered a medium for the record.
The new york sirloin was incredibly good. Check out the meat locker on your way in.
Best steak (prime rib ) in a long time
The veal chop parm is always a tasty option. [Stomach growls.]
The sides are all good, the steak and the veal parmesan is excellent
Been here 2 other times. They have best display of beef , great atmosphere. Tonight, They lived up to expectations. Excellent bone-in rib eye . THE BEST Mashed Potatoes EVER!
Quality not for what you pay for.We ordered two glasses of wine and they charged us $45 dollars. Unacceptable for not letting us know before. We ordered medium steaks and they brought us medium well .
We were there for new year’s eve. The steak was very nice.
Great bread basket , fresh oyster , terrible tuna steak , dry porthouse steak ...
USDA prime ribs are dry aged in the restaurant 's dry age room
the burrata w roasted peppers is the real deal, people.
