A great experience after such a long time. Their food is beyond expectations. I enjoyed meal here with my friends last month. I highly recommend this food point if you ever visit Los Angeles.

The whole experience of ordering and waiting for a seat is nice .. Burgers are good but fries are great ???? .. Don't miss the pecan pie .

A West LA institution: typical diner fare without typical diner taste. [Eater 38 Member] Read more

Here is how it works: there is no waiting list, it's an honor system. Your job is to know who was there before you. It's not a free for all, so don't just shove in when seats open. And don't skip pie .

Deema .

Definitely worth the visit ..try the steakburger and the pecan pie

My fav burger in LA . There are other fancy good burgers out there, but this is the one I wanna settle down with. Hickoryburger w/cheddar light on lettuce, fries , banana cream pie w/vanilla ice cream

Mohammed Abu Hajar

Very good Hickory Burger , try the French Fries with Homemade Mayonnaise , and the best end is the desert Banana Pie and Pecan Pie

Barry Bloom

Always my favorite and an absolute classic. Great burgers , but love the tuna on rye . Like the old Greek luncheonettes of my youth in the Bronx. Wedge of homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream .

Eater

Rich & with a touch of zip thanks to the burger spot’s proprietary barbecue sauce blend on top, a cheap cash-only burger from this West LA institution is a must-do for anyone passing through the city .

Best burger on the West Side! Simple, fresh and cooked to order. Quick service with a professional touch. The pies are a great way to end the meal so you better leave room!

Caty Solone

Apple Pan is the BEST burger in town by far. I always get the Hickoryburger with cheese , light on the lettuce, fries , a Dr. Pepper and banana cream pie . Can't go wrong with that order. Cash only .

Ashley

Favorite burger joint in LA. Been coming here for years. Get their hickoryburger and finish off with an apple pie à la mode. Classic, no-frills, cash only .

Pi day may have been Monday, but you can have a belated celebration with the best pie in town at Apple Pan. Guests rave about the banana cream pie and of course the apple pie . Read more

This was the first stop on my LA burger tour . Went alone at around 7 and was able to sit right away. Server was super sweet and the hickory burger with cheddar was delicious.

Mohammed Abu Hajar

we ordered the steak cheese burger witch was better than the hickory burger , it was not hot as expected & the favour is mild the patty was thin & i figured out the restaurant now lives on old Héritage

Rob Harol

Hickory Burger is not the original Apple Pan burger , which just goes to prove that you can improve upon perfection. The apple pie is also a must, but their forks are flatter than the GOP's world view .

Abdullah K

Hickory burger is the best???????? and their desserts are really good too ????????

Justin Ordoveza

Come for a bit of nostalgia, but expect to wait to get a seat. It's a solid burger . The pie here is legit, make sure to save some room. Cash only

Katherine M.

Historical vibes, a spare interior and U-shaped counter centered around a team of chefs who have been perfecting a single dish for years. Get a burger with a cone of Coca-cola and a slice of pie .

Eater

This popular burger restaurant has been around since the 1940's. The burgers and pies are made the old fashioned way, with quality ingredients and quick counter service. Read more

I love the retro atmosphere of this burger joint . The banana cream pie is number one on my list. They serve soft drinks in cone-shaped paper cups, which I have not seen anywhere else. Love it.

Josef Szotten

There's only counter space so might have to wait to sit but it's worth it. If (when) ordering fries , get them extra crispy and with hickory sauce on the side - you won't regret it.

Abdullah

It’s great to have an experience in a very old “Classic” burger restaurant . I have tried the Cheeseburger and french fries , Both were very tasty ????

Tucker W

The burger definitely lives up to the hype. Love the retro atmosphere. Cash only !

S

The BEST burger I had in my life the original is sooo good and tried the hickory ???????????????? like how old the place is definitely a must stop when back in LA again

Thomas Colton

Awesome old school burger joint . The steak burger or the hickory burger in their signature relish is incredible. The less people in your party, the better, as seating is a musical chairs melee

Dave Goldstein

Don’t think, just order a Hickory Burger , fries well done, and ask about the day’s pies . Soak the place in; be amazed at how those who are waiting to sit know who’s next, and never cut the line .

Travel Channel

This classic LA burger shack has been open since 1947. Try the ‘Hickory Burger ’ as seen on Travel Channel’s Burger Land & recommended by host George Motz.

Khalifa Al Dhaheri

One of the best burgers I have tried in my life .. highly recommended

Katrina

A LA classic burger place. It is definitely an experience to eat here from the old timer who served us to the decor and seating. It is like a glimpse of a piece of LA history.

Men's Health Mag

The Hickory Burger 's so good because their recipe for the patty and "special sauce " are a secret. The ground meat is a mixture of prime and choice cuts of beef and the grilled bun gives a crusty edge.

Dan Kawasaki

They added a jukebox ! Stange to add something that feels like technology (even from the 50's) to a place that is a time capsule to old Los Angeles. I love this place.

Joseph Dileo

Famous LA spot, super old school, quick bite spot. The burger was good but not mind blowing, it had some composure problems IMHO. Fries great, soda served in a great way as well .

Parsa Oloumi

Great burger spot with mouth-watering meat. Good bread , fresh and huge portion fries . Fair prices .

Brandon Werner

The best burger I've had in LA. The coffee is unlimited and the incredible servers won't let your cup go empty!

Dalal Aldhobaib

Classic American burger . A little restaurant in the corner. It is worth to visit and try. Yum!

Hamoud AlDabbous

Classic burger with retro style feels like the 70's . Try the steak burger it's the best burger here

Privy.net

A kind of retro diner that’s too classy to be defined as Fifties, this place has amazing chocolate cream pie and banana cream pie . Before that, enjoy a choice of five burgers or sandwiches . Read more

Offbeat L.A.

Opened 1947. Classic burger & pie diner in a small house with a U-shaped counter, red leather stools & vintage signs.

Raymond Arturo

Super duper delicious. Their apple pie is scrumdiddilyumptious. Their burgers are yummy, fresh, but I personally didn't like their secret sauce, which tastes like their apple pie filling.

Kevin T

Pretty good classic burger and fries . Love the old fashioned diner bar style, definitely a fun place for a quick bite for lunch !

Joyce

Great burger and fries ! Super friendly service . The coconut cream pie slice was too sweet - I’ll opt to try another one the next time!

Bokyung Park

The tables are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The old school burger place , inside the “U” shaped counter, makes this place historic.

Pro-move: hop off the plane at LAX and hitch a ride to The Apple Pan. Welcome to LA, baby.

Khalid

Hickory burger ????????

Bader Mohammed

Hickory burger , one of the best burgers i have ever had, if it's not the best.

Eman alnuaim

Nice experience, the burger I think it's overrated????but I liked their pecan pie ????????????

J D

Good burger . I didnt get a chance to taste the pies but I'll try it next time. I like the diner concept. Be prepared to stand against the wall and wait until seat(s) become available.

Faris Altorki

Ask for their home made mayonnaise and pies

Lojain

Great place with a very delicious food and a fast service , but felt so full that I couldn't try the apple pie :(
