Go to the information desk at the Interpretive Center for any questions and a map to help you hike the gorge! We went to every lookout point--it's amazing from every view !
Some steep, long stairs, but the views are absolutely worth it. Everything is also so well-constructed, from the reused tire rubber trails to metal steps.
Do the Gorge Floor . I start at Sliding Rock , cross Bridal Veil & hike toward Hurricane Falls . I avoid the stairs entirely - too crowded . Sliding Rock is steep, but views awesome & it's shaded.
For 3wknds in April & Nov, they increase flow for expert kayakers to paddle. It's fun to watch them run Oceana. Bring binoculars !
They are doing a controlled water release, so no "floor" permits are available at this time. With release of water the falls are how they once were before dams built.
Set to release in 2013, "Killing Season" starring Robert De Niro and John Travolta was filmed in several spots around Georgia, including Tallulah Gorge State Park.
Bring a bathing suit, lunch , sunscreen , change of clothes , and lots of water. If you go for the rock scramble on the way out, be ready -- it's not for the faint of heart!
Beautiful hikes but start early in the day so you have time to get back before dark if going to bottom. Must have permit for that hike but not for north trail
One of the most beautiful places I have been, peaceful and very simple to get to.
Amusing to watch people gasping for breath on way up stairs. I love to mention the escalator or cable car just to "eff" with them.
Short-line Trail is great for walking with a stroller. Plenty of nature to keep my little guys curiosity busy!

If you want a challenge, climb the stairs to the suspension bridge and head down to the end of Hurricane Falls .

Love love love the bridge . Too many steps for me to climb down. The view is amazing though!
Get there early in the morning to get the passes to get to the gorge floor !
Gorge floor permits are limited to 100 hikers /day. Not your ordinary stroll in the woods!
Lots of great overlooks of Tallulah Gorge. Get a permit and head down to the river for a swim on a hot day
One of the beat family hiking places in Georgia
Make sure you get a hiking permit from the station if you really want to do exploring, lots of scary signage around the park ! I didn't know State Parks were so strict!
Awesome place! Make sure to take the stairs to the bottom!
A must see. Great hiking with breathtaking views .
The bathrooms at the beach bath house are the nicest I've ever seen in a State Park .

Lots of stairs down to the bottom, but it's well worth it!

Great family style place. You can ask for second plates if you need it (the acorn squash was WONDERFUL). Plus, you can have one to-go box per person (just don't forget to ask for it!). - Erin Napolitano
