An unique museum whereby the collector's personality shines strongly through her creative installation of the art she collects. New extension by Renzo Piano is sensitive to original palazzo.Thumbs up!
The admission price is $5 for students! Amazing architecture and inspiring gardens compliment a vast collection of art . Take the time to visit this museum , you won't be sorry.
100 years later and the Gardner museum is timelessly perfect. Venetian palazzo style architecture with a sunny atrium over a refreshing courtyard , it's no wonder why people come again and again.
Beautiful and unique place! Definitely put on your visit list. It's not very far and won't take long to tour if you don't want to. The garden is really stunning.
The museum itself is an art . Loved the interior garden .Well known for the stolen art pieces(Rembrandt, Vermeer) that happened back in 1990, remain unsolved. So the museum still offers $10M in reward.
Would have never guessed it from the outside but it's so interesting and cool inside! There are a lot of nice things to see. Beautiful courtyard . Surprisingly!
Absolutely incredible. ISG collected so many valuable works of art and opened her home to the public to share her collection. The courtyard is stunning- Encanto come to life.
Such a peaceful museum . I would happily spend hours reading or sketching in the courtyard . You can't take pictures and there's so much to see. The modern wing has a reading room filled with books .
Such a unique experience - definitely recommend coming here over one of the more traditional galleries . Take your time and explore - there's lots to see!
Great museum to tour . They have wonderful events such as Third Thursday ’s. They have different activities though the night as well as a signature cocktail paired with the night’s theme.
To say there's no other place like is both extraordinary and an understatement. If you can only choose one museum in Boston , this is the one I would pick.
This museum has a whole lot of personality. Generally I prefer contemporary art , but I like the experience of the ISGM enough to come back every few years. Really beautiful in the warmer months.
This is a must - see in Boston. This museum is fantastic. It's unique and very exploratory since Gardener arranged all her collections in a unique and imaginary way. It's full of wonder and surprise!
Come here for the Third Thursday events , the galleries and the gardens at night are beautiful. The permanent collection is stunning, and so telling of such a famous Bostonian woman.
Love! Words cannot describe the little slice of magic that of the garden alone. A true woman of the arts , her collection is very personal and quite magical —highly recomended!
If you stole artwork, please heed the museums suggestion: "The Museum continues to issue the call to the holders of the works to conserve them in recommended temperatures and humidity levels."
Visit the site of the most famous art heist in the world and see the empty frames that wait to welcome their missing artwork back. Stay for the beautiful gardens and grounds. Open daily, 11am - 5pm.
A must-see on the Boston museum circuit. Isabella Stewart Gardner's museum is not only full of beautiful art from Renaissance masters, it is a work of art in and of itself.
Don't think of this as a museum . Think of it as an eclectic place to escape our hectic century for a while. The new wing has a great reading room with all sorts of cool books on unexpected topics.
Amazing museum that had way more to offer than the website suggests. There are hidden delights all over and a good amount of famous works from Rembrandt, Manet etc.

You have to go more than once. It really is an Italian palace . First time, just walk through. Go with the tour guide. Then go again and rent the head phone tour . Well worth it.
If you plan to visit the museum after 2pm, make your reservations sometimes tickets sold out and you’ll miss the chance to visit the gallery and the garden !
Extremely special. Delivers on the hype. Totally unique and a Boston gem. Maybe the best museum in town if you like something a bit different.
The new wing is an improvement on the old house. Each third Thursday of the month is a cool themed evening that attracts a fair number of well-dressed people.
On the third Thursday of each month, the Gardner hosts a program built around a single theme featuring music , games, lectures, & refreshments. Tickets are normally $15 but are free for BU students! Read more
Nice place to walk around, free admission if your name is Isabella or if you are part of the Fenway schools. The courtyard is very pretty however they do not allow you to take pictures there
The courtyard is breathtaking in the middle of the city . The design of this museum is unique and it should not be missed if you're in Boston!
American history buffs will dig the "Presidents and Statesmen" case on the third floor. Keep an eye out for the autographed photo of Teddy Roosevelt, it's one of the presidential pieces.
The Isabella Stewart Gardner museum is a treasure trove of unique art and priceless collections. Be sure to locate the empty frame where a painting was stolen and never recovered.
Really lovely museum . Admission ticket is $20 and you have to make an rsvp before going due to the pandemic.
Worth going and seeing it. The epitome of kitsch in a very interesting museum . Plus the expansion of Renzo Piano is worth seeing it.
Such a beautiful museum with classic art and gardens . And they have a cafe and gift shop .
Check out the empty frames from the heist. Gardner's instructions prohibit any changes to the museum , so the frames remain. http://www.gardnermuseum.org/resources/theft
This museum is a city jewel. A very unique, even romantic experience. Don't miss the gift shop (well-curated, beautiful finds for gifts & home).
Get the audio tour . There is tons see. You can find sheets of paper in lots of rooms that explain the artwork but the audio tour highlights some amazing artwork!
Hidden Gen in the Fenway area. I highly recommend buying the tickets in advance.
It's such a pity that they don't allow photo... The museum is amazing and beautiful. You can feel the history behind every art piece.
Beautiful museum , intimate garden and delicious cocktails on the Third Thursdays of the month -- highly recommend!
I'm a museum fan, and this one is a museum lover's dream. It would also be a great place to live. The museum store here could be better, and if it were, I'd be there more often.
After you’ve basked in the year-round sunlight of the flower-filled courtyard , take your time in relishing the museum’s 2,500 paintings , sculptures , textiles, and furniture pieces.
The integration of the new building with the old is well done. The atrium of the old building remains a highlight of all Boston.
Awesome! Incredible private collection with amazing history behind. Congratulations for the team management of this museum .
One of the premiere art museums in the country with a building exquisitely designed to resemble a renaissance Italian palace .
Everything at the Gardner is being cleaned and restored — the Belgian tapestries, the hand-crafted tiles, the furniture and the artwork — to look as it did when Gardner died in 1924.
Wonderful!! One of my favorite museums so far. If you like art , you have to see the collection. Reminds me the museums in Italy
Get in early to avoid the crowds, and don't be afraid to ask the staff about the art ! They're always happy to talk about it!
I don't know so much about art but there are tremendous art work being presented. And man the garden .
