Reasonably priced Teochew fare. The traditional Orh Luah (oyster omelette ) is nice and crispy . Also like the duck meat platter and pig trotter platter. Will be back to try other stuff.
One of the best restaurants for Teochew Cuisine. Try the Baked Lobster with Garlic , Teochew Roast Suckling Pig , Crispy Skin Sea Cucumber , Cold Crab , and Braised Goose Fillet. Move over Crystal Jade!!
Charcoal grilled sea cucumber was surprisingly aromatic, offering a different dimension to the standard braised style. Very well executed!
Food is always well executed, but there's just something about the ambiance that makes me feel less than satisfied... I could eat the braised goose and white rice all day long.
Fried oyster omelette : Woweee! Possibly d best I've tasted all my life! There's something xtra special in d egg-flour recipe dat leaves a lingering savoury scent. Amazing!
Luving the duck and the chicken dishes . One of the best food eatten in Singapore. You have to do booking on weekend only
Good clean Chinese food ; healthy style. The Suckling Pig . .. to die for; this dish is not healthy but I made up for it with the other dishes.
Authentic Teochew cuisine at reasonable prices. Cold crab is a must
Over here, they serve before- and after-meal tea . A very Teochew practice
Specialty chicken : Their "Puning" fermented bean chicken dish an interesting & acquired taste. We liked d unique dish
All the food my host chose were very good, especially the cold crab . It is supposed to be open to the public.
Steamed fish : Pick fr choice of garoupa, "soon hock", sea bass or red tilapia . Impressed dat they offer 7 styles of preparing d seasonal fish :-)
Teochew desserts : Besides classic favourites like "or nee" (sweet yam paste ) & steamed sweet potato , I also njoyed d sugared ym stiks,
good duck , ngoh hiang , tau suan with orange peel and Yam@paste with ginkgo nuts ! ????????
Fried kuay teow (flat rice noodles ): Kids like d house specialty version: fried w diced kailan vege . Whew! @ least another way 2 get greens in2 their diet ;-)
Chef recommendation of the eight treasures is also very tasteless especially the scallop. So is the braised Chinese Spanish with conpoy and century egg . Don't get cheated
Nice remake restaurant . Cannot imagine it used to be a school
Carpark is expensive on weekends.. Parking at the URA carpark is much cheaper. Free after 5pm
Tofu (beancurd ): Somehow the 1s here r silky smooth, whether it's in braised duck , or their homemade spinach skin beancurd . Ahh....
Braised duck/goose: U can't eat @ a Teochew establishment w/o ordering these. Dis place serves them nice
Yam , pumpkin and ginko dessert...Orh Ni. Small single person serving.
Love their lobster and fish .
Vege : Simple kailan vege w crispy fried sole fish bits on top. Clean , heavenly. Mmmmm....
Pretty good food and good service . Surprisingly good selection of karaoke songs too.
Car park : $3 per entry, all day! 3 levels of basement car park
Teochew appetisers : Family devours ngoh hiang & liver rolls d moment d plates r served :-P
Eight Vege Treasures: Agree w fellow 4SQ tip: scallop dish is yuck, no matter how valuable they name this plate :-(
probably the best oyster omelette
I had a hard time finding the place after I alighted from a bus stop somewhere near Newton circus
Nice Teochew food but will only come here for special family occasions.
Braised goose and ngoh hiam - very nice
Braised Pig trotter is good!
The yam paste desert is nice
Good Mee Siam and chicken curry !
The platter was delicious however the fish soup was disappointingly fishy. Good service but food was very average for what they charge.
Excellent Cereal prawns
The pork jelly 猪脚冻 is not as good as Ah Hoi at Mosque St. too little meat and no kick in the bite
Green island dink a-roi mak ka.
Steamed pomfret
Australia lobster
Cold Crab is good!
Great food and service
Not bad. But must book early
Fish is very tough, and they actually told is its over cooked and didn't have the courtesy to at least give us a discount .
