Head left or east if you have a dog you want to walk off leash. Head right or west if you want to catch fabulous tide pools or avoid dog beach . You can walk for miles at low tide

While a once hidden gem , this is still a fav of ours. The Boathouse at Hendry's Beach offers a great selection of fresh seafood and wine . But the free parking means prime views of the day's sunset !

Great hike up trail parallel to Cliff Dr. Panoramic view of the local canyons & the Pacific Ocean. Nice hike through Kirk Douglas Family Preserve & then a nice walk down a long stair way to the beach .

Beautiful beach with a lot of parking . It goes on for awhile and gets less crowded the further down you go.

I love dogs as much as anyone, I have two. But they do not belong in or around food establishments ! The Boathouse at Henry Beach reeks of dog urine , so much so I completely lost my appetite

Locals call it Hendry's Beach , the state of California calls it Arroyo Burro Beach. It's common to see pods of dolphins close to shore early in the morning. You can bring your dogs, too.

Bring a surf board , bring an id and a credit card and eat and drink at the boathouse . Then watch the sunset . Easy day. BOOM.

The dog side is wonderful. Plenty of space the the pups to run and play.

There is a dog wash at the front end of the parking lot which is a good thing because the dogs play very hard at this beach !

Make sure to take advantage of the token-operated dog wash once your pooch comes out of the surf ! Warm water, shampoo & blow dry. Can you believe this?
