This place is awesome turn back in time. Plenty of history to see and interact with. Great tours . Get your tickets online. Two days would give you enough time to spend quality time.

Mary

Fun and informative. I did find that sometimes the commercialization overshadowed the historical correctness. However, most of the interpreters were nice, helpful, and balanced 2013 and 1776 well .

Emily

I recommend going with plenty of time to walk around and explore. That way you can poke through the shops and get swept up in the re-enactments and demonstrations.

Christopher Sacra

I go every year, and stay in the colonial houses. - wonderful step back in time to the 18th century. Love the taverns and trade shops as well as historic homes , and best of all, the music programs.

Michelle L

So much to do...almost need about two days or so if you want to see everything. So much history to be learned.

The Traveler

A lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes . Toured the Governors Mansion which I enjoyed. I recommend taking a stroll through the area at night if you have the chance.

Peter

Great copy of the original Williamsburg with attention to detail. In case you're in the area you gotta visit this place.

Michelin Travel & Lifestyle

All things 18th century are re-enacted here to entertaining effect, but the most hands on fun can be had with the bricklayer, the wig maker, or at the evening dances . - Green Guide Editor

Lots of fun with great history presentations! Governors mansion tour moves quick so be ready to take it all in fast!

A picturesque version of living history. Buying a Patriot Pass allows access to points of interest like the Governor's Mansion, strolling the streets and shops is informative as well .

Jana L.

Fun, but pricey . You can park at Merchants Square (lots of yummy food!) and walk through C.Williamsburg without paying the entrance fee, though you won't be able to enter the homes/buildings.

Christian Alvarez

I’d recommend getting the multi-day pass to get the most out of your buck. And besides: You’ll need more than one day if you want to check out more of this place!

Michelin Travel & Lifestyle

After the crowds have left, nighttime is one of the best times to experience Colonial Williamsburg. More than 27 houses & taverns have overnight guest rooms for rent to extend your stay. - Green Guide

Parents with children: control your kids! It’s annoying when they’re screaming while trying to listen to a speaker on a tour . If you can’t silence them, please leave the tour .

Paul Brown

I see there's a tip claiming you can see the "majority" of CW without a ticket. That's misleading. All the sites apart from Bruton Parish Church and the two meetinghouses require a ticket.

Andrea Menzies

Great chicken bites and artichoke dip to be at restaurants in this area. Worth the trip.

Taylor Stoermer

Williamsburg became Virginia's capital in 1699 after it moved from Jamestown , the first permanent English settlement in America. Today it represents the core of the American Revolutionary experience.

It is best to go when it's not hot. Go on a perfect day! Go see EVERYTHING! Don't let a hot day ruin it for you.

Invest in a $10 "bottomless" cider mug. For the calendar year, get unlimited cider , soda , and coffee from the cider stand, bakery , taverns, and Kimball Theater .
