If the biscuits aren’t sold out, GET THEM. We also had the salmon pastrami (excellent), the pretzel chicken (super duper) and the butter lettuce (surprisingly really tasty - add the poached egg ).
This place still rocks! Not only is it cozy af, but most of menu is absolutely delicious! Skip the toast and deviled eggs . Get the winter squash soup , chicken , steak , or pork chop .
If you’re looking for an old school diner , you won’t find that here. It’s more of an old school design with a new age menu. The rye pancakes are delicious!
Head to Amanda Freitag 's revamp for matzo ball soup with bone marrow , crispy Buffalo-style skate wings , Brussels sprouts with chili jam , or a plump cheeseburger with a mountain of crispy fries . Read more
AMAZING. We waited outside for 30 min. in the cold... And I would do it again! Gladly! Food? Phenomenal. We all cleared our plates + got dessert ! Go soon + you can see Amanda Freitag at the kitchen!
Vanilla cheesecake is yummy with tart garnishes ! The artichoke and crudo i would avoid. The fries and pimms cocktail are delish. Cool vibe!
Great scramble with brioche . The avo toast was good but for $9...def not the best in town (Little Collins is!). The only downside was that they only serve WHOLE milk . Otherwise, great place.
We love the reimagined buffalo wing . Instead of chicken , it's a skate wing that's glazed with hot sauce and butter, and the celery and carrot gets made over as a fresh little salad . Read more
Chef Amanda Freitag takes greasy-spoon food to new heights at this reboot of the Chelsea landmark . Don’t miss burrata with lox , or the apropos Happy Waitress : poached eggs , ham , and chili jam .
Amazing!!!???????? burger !! $18 bucks but sooo worth it... Keeps you thinking about what great burger ! The brioche bun and quality of meat made it what it is! Can't wait to go back!
Amanda Freitag combines the familiar flavors of poached peaches , raspberries , candied almonds , and vanilla ice cream in her newest dessert , Peach Melba. She's also offering a Peach Fuzz cocktail .
The mezcal and Campari cocktail is very good (smoky, bitter, sweet). And I quite enjoyed the potato and foie gras starter, which had a scrape-the-plate-good sour cream sauce .
Amanda Freitag 's new neighborhood gem . Food is unpretentious, simple, yet so delicious. Try the patty melt . And all of the cocktails .
Amanda Freitag , formerly of Tribeca’s coziest restaurant , the Harrison, has reinvented the icon. Signature patty melt is a sandwich that has all been bound together with butter and drippings.
????everything on this menu is delicious! Try the Pork on Pork or the Lemon Chicken . The Skirt Wing appetizer was a yummy surprise. I'll definitely come back.
Know before you go: this ain’t a “greasy spoon” diner . It’s a $$$$ restaurant that happens to be in an old diner car. It’s charming af at nighttime.
Everything is amazing. We had loaded potatoes , octopus , pork on pork and matzo ball soup . Delicious. All of it. And bonus Amanda actually works there!
Great venue and dog friendly outside. I loved my asparagus and poached eggs , and ginger and lime spritz for brunch . Will return for dinner .
buffalo skate wing , new york style cheesecake (lemon poppy seed cake and fig compote), orzo mac n cheese with black truffle ????
The newest iteration of Empire Diner is the best yet. Pork chop , pigs in a blanket , crispy artichoke ???? well priced and excellent food
The patty melt is “refined but not annoyingly so, ... while also insuring the correct balance of crunch (toasted rye ) and ooze (Swiss cheese and caramelized onions ).” Read more
The most fancy diner ever!no diner food but proper restaurant with fashionable people. Plates were good and atmosphere as well
Pretzel fried chicken , burgers , fried artichokes , sundae ... pretty much everything!
Thrillist recommends the chili cheese fries covered in salsa verde , cheddar and lime crema and the PLT (a pork belly , frisée , and avocado masterpiece).
The menu was almost completely overhauled August 23 - I think for the better. There are many more options, and they hew closer to traditional diner fare , but still gastrodiner.
All you need to know is have the Orzo Mac and Cheese . They also have milkshakes but they aren't on the menu, as for a black and white for me!
Delicious for any meal. Burger , fish tacos , and waffles are fab. Great cocktail list too, get the martini .
The Bitches say A-. Empire Diner serves augmented classic diner food with a fancy twist, and we appreciated both the riffs on classics and the basics. Read more
Hands down... The patty melt . Nope! The patty melt , I says. Do it! Do it! Do it! (And you're welcome)
The lemon chicken is so tender and just enough lemon that is wasn't over powering. Staff is very friendly ! Don't forget to try to sorbet !
Crowd is actually unbearable but food is excellent - matzoh ball soup , brussels, apple pie , and the patty melt . Please don't come here so that I can more often.
I got their hot chicken and it was absolutely amazing! Their drinks are strong too!
Pretzel fried chicken is a star dish. Stracciatella also stood out. Coconut cake and strawberry chiffon v good.
Gravlax with hummus on rye with pickles , 1 big slice $10. Poached tuna nicoise $16, dry tuna
Feta sticks are unique and delicious. Lamb burger is great. The burger is well-executed and tasty, but nothing mind blowing.
As much as I love this place, it's got to improve its brunch . The food and service is not as special so steer clear for now.
Food and service are great — worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood !
Loved this place. Most recent visit the service was really weak - having to repeat requests, lack of attention from waiter , hostess . I miss it!
Lovely place in downtown! Great the pancakes and the granola is pretty sweet and not very healthy.
Great burgers in brioche buns . Good vegetable lasagne . Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere.
Came in for brunch last Saturday and had the best server Kyle! Will be back to see him soon! Thank youuuu
Try the Matzoh Ball Marrow Soup - Root vegetables , poached chicken , marrow bone . Nice and dense matzoh balls.
Amazing local restaurant . Private dining space upstairs.
Everything was delicious. I think we ordered most of the menu and shared among 4 people. Way exceeded expectations.
Greasy good fish filet sandwich hit the spot. That mac and cheese tho! OMG.
The matzo ball soup is delicious. And save room for the lemon merengue pie .
The sausage and the fingerlings are really good. The environment is great too.
Very good cocktails and local beer , food is fun and fresh and the vibe is exciting.
I think that the atmosphere is nice, but the food is not the best.Had the waffle with fried chicken . The poached egg from the plate ended up being hard boiled and the bacon tasted old.
Good brunch spot that will be much better than you thought. Reasonably priced and quality food.
Love the Swiss cheese omlette and the French toast. Consistently great for 10 years! - Dan H
I love this place. Great service and solid portions. My weekend go-to when I'm not looking for a heavy Chelsea scene. - Dave Stud
One of my favorite late-night dining spots in the city. Perfect place after a night out or a late movie. Has a pretty large menu, burgers, pasta, etc but my rec is always go for the breakfast. - Ian Francis
Beautiful space to stroll or take a seat. Try one of the vendors selling tasty tacos, ice cream or coffee. - Julie Soscia
Our goto weekend coffee spot. Great outdoor seating in front and out back of the hotel. Dog friendly - Micah Chiles
Ninth street espresso is great. Additionally, the variety during lunchtime is unbeatable between tacos, American, pizza, ramen, and delis. - Umair Hussain
