Can't actually see Sutro Tower from the top. I recommend entering near the intersection of Stanyan & 17th St . You get more green time that way.
Some of the only legal mountain biking in SF. Very well marked trails , all fun. Find maps and volunteer opportunities at the Sutro Stewards and SFUR websites.
If you're wondering ... There are some benches to sit right at the top (summit ) to enjoy a moment.
Follow the trail as far west as you can for last, highest sunset view in the City .
Solid place for a quiet hike . Not too crowded like other places around SF. Watch out - tends to be a bit muddy.
Very navigable trails through this expansive reserve make for a wonderful escape from the City .
Make sure to enter the park from the gap near 17th St

Hiking in the fog among the eucalyptus trees is euphoric.
Best way to get a quick hike in the middle of the city .
Tucked away hiking trails around UCSF and Forest Knolls - easy hike to the summit - great for dogs
Be prepared to get really muddy.

For first time in 50 years you now have access to the 12-acre swath of the Interior Greenbelt Park on Mount Sutro. You can also scale the mountain via a newly restored trail that passes a creek bed - Nico Pitney
