Λεωφ. Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου (Λόφος Αρδηττού) 117 42 Athens , Attica Greece
If you are a sports and Olympic fan this is a must go! The ticket is really worth it. Don't forget to get the audio guide . Also, walk through the tunnel to discover the history of the Olympics.
The place of the first Modern Olympic Games in 1896. The only stadium in the world completely made out of marble ! Olympic venue for Archery in 2004 and the end of the Athens Classic Marathon .
The history of modern Olympics. Shining marble under the sun of Athens. Today used as museum and for ceremonies. Around though, on Ardittos hill , under the trees , Athenians are training still today.
The best €5 you will spend in Athens! A great informative tour of the home of the modern Olympics with a hidden gem of a museum l, housing previous torches! Also stunning views of the Acropolis
Best time to go 1-2 hours before closing (allow 40 minutes for the audio tour and to take photos and enjoy the views ). Take advantage of sunset as it reflects off the marble stadium .
The Stadium is open 7 days a week, throughout the year! After admission you have the opportunity to run a few laps and feel the vibe of these historical grounds.
One of my favorite places in Athens, definitely visit Arditos which is the hill surrounding Kallimarmaro stadium , it s like you are in a forest fr away from the heart of the city !
Was there for a concert , which was an experience on it's own! Also was here for the classic marathon. I suggest a visit in the morning (early morning in Summer) & if for a concert , take sth to sit on.
A must see in Athens. 2300 year old stadium completely made out of marble that at one time could seat 80,000. Stays open late and you can also enter from a back street in the neighborhood at night.
Unreal! Highly reccomendes to buy the 5 euro entry to go inside with free audio guide .
The Panathenaic Stadium hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. It is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble and the most ancient stadium in use in the world.
Originally constructed in 566BC. Reconstructed in time to host the 1896 (first) modern olympics .
For the €5 entry you get a good audio guide , plenty to see, loved the torch collection
Don’t miss the torch display through the tunnel at the far end of the stadium , small but interesting display if you like Olympic history
Do the audio tour ! Amazing history and great place for photos. Must do if you’re a runner!
If you don't want to pay for a ticket: Walk around and approach the stadium from the back side, where you get the perfect view over and into it through a fence.
A must to see. Don't miss. It looks simple but it is not. Go for it and don't forget to see the Olympics Torches and Posters exhibition .
Some travel guides list this site as FREE but it actually will cost you 3€. Not a big deal as this stadium and the museum (which has all the torches from previous games) is very impressive.
The stadium where the first modern Olympics in 1896 took place is a must see! Walk on the tracks and feel the excitement of a Marathon runner about to cross the finish line !
Go right up the stairs at the end of the tunnel - there is a gallery of Olympic torches and posters that's really great.
There are no words to describe the magic!!! Although the "seats" are not comfortable for seated events like concerts , the experience worths a try
Super incredible, worth the visit, and make sure you use the audio guide
Don't leave here without seeing the museum . It's hidden in the back left corner of the track . One of the best & no additional fee.
You can climb up the stairs to the left, walk straight and turn first right and get on the top of it to either jog or take pictures. No admission there
The place of the 1st Modern Olympic Games held at 1896 and also the Finish line of the Modern Athens Classical Marathon
The audio guide and walk is a way to spend an hour, but I wouldn’t call it thrilling.
There was more there than we expected. Great views and an interesting audio guide .
Great audio tour , nice tour , way better than expected. It's dead warm though!!
The only marble made stadium all over the world , privileged to serve the revival of the Olympic Games @1896.

The heart of the Olympics and ancient Greece! Enjoy the view , learn about its history and continue to Ardittou hill to see the spectacular Acropolis!
This stadium can accommodate around 68,000 people. It was first built at around 330 BC and restored for the first modern Olympics of 1896.
Pay attention to the collection of Olympic posters and torches inside.
In Classical times, the stadium had wooden seating. Remade in marble , by the archon Lycurgus, in 329 BC it was enlarged and renovated by Herodes Atticus, in 140 AD, to a seated capacity of 50,000.
