Spent a great day at the beach . It was nice getting away from the more crowded area of Pensacola and Casino beach areas during spring break. It was $8 well worth spending.
Take an early morning walk out past Battery Payne to see Blue Heron, Pelican, seagulls, etc. If you stand really still and quietly , you might get to see the sand crabs .
Great place to visit. lots of history and nice beaches . $8 to get in or free w/national park service pass. Also good for a nice 2 1/2 hr round trip boat ride around the bay for about $18/person.
Amazing photography opportunities. We took a group of kids and spent the day exploring. Not one ever said I'm bored. And they all still have great memories from our day at Ft Pickens in 2010.
One of the great area attractions and a very historic place as well . I happened to come out on a day with temps in the 20’s. There was still a crowd. I enjoyed myself though.
Very cool stop on any trip to the beach . There is a lot of history with this fort and the views from the top are great!

Just get out of your car and walk around. The fort is bigger than it seems and full of cool nooks and crannies.
Go to the very end and around the point pull off right before the bathrooms , parking to the right. Its a long walk but completely worth it. The beach is breath taking
Start at the ranger station. Pick up a copy of the "Self-guided Tour " booklet. Take the tour , then try to see Fts. Barrancas & McRee. Finally, drive to Battery 234 to enjoy the quiet beach .
