Personally I think its easier to enter via the trail from South Side works than entering via 18th - but I suppose it all depends on which side of Birmingham you are coming from.

The dog park is officially OPEN AS OF 08/02/2012. Ribbon cutting and all.

Great place, just bring water .
Locked up again while they're planting trees (and hopefully grass ) and making the paths.
Bring your own water! There are a lot of bowls but no water supply . :(

As of the morning of 6/9/12 gates were open!
No running water, and not much grass , but it's location is handy.

Reminder to dog owners- your furry friend can enjoy the dog run off-leash, but dogs must be on a leash on the trail itself. Pittsburgh has a leash law and Animal Control can seize your off-leash dog. - Amy L.
Nice new Pittsburgh Park and trail in the shadows of the Hot Metal Bridge and the Hofbrau Haus. Easy river access from South Side Works (former steel mill) for boating on the Mon River. - Dar N
