This is a minimalist but good ramen experience. There aren't a plethora of choices, instead you're greeted with some basic types of broth which are complemented with minor variations in toppings.
Ramen tastes good. Lunch special is good. You get a bowl of ramen of your choice, salad and a choice of appetizer (edamame , gyoza or karaage chicken ).
As if the name itself isn't intimidating enough, proceed to the Gates of Hell with caution. Not for the faint of heart (but perfect for cold days and chili powder lovers)!!
It's not your college ramen noodles . This place is legit. The sign is in Japanese so it's hard to find so just look for the Milkboy bar and it's right next to it.
Tako-yaki is delicate while El Portifilio is in your face with lemon and heat. Great service - server docked our bill to make up for a reservation mishap. Playlist is perfection.
Delicious ramen that’s $11. There is more seating in the back.
Cool little ramen place , although it can be easy to miss from the outside. I very highly recommend the Gates of Hell !
only one vegetarian option for ramen but damn is it good! tasty veg ramen is hard to find!! great byob place
Hot green tea is made from actual tea leaves rather than power! Marinated egg was cooked perfect!!!!
The Black Pig is fatty pork heaven. Get Gates of Hell if you're crazy into spice.
Gates of hell ramen was delicious and not overpoweringly spicy !
This place is very small but if you want Authentic Ramen...This is it!!!! Will definitely go back
$13 lunch special : salad , appetizer and ramen
Get the torigara shoyu raman! Add on pork belly for a savory treat!
Eggs are impeccable. Lunch special is a good deal .
Now with spicy option . Gives a good kick.
Best ramen in Philly
MSG free ramen . The broth and the noodles are good but the pork belly is too dry.
If you like REAL ramen , this is the place!!!
No English sign outside, but it's right next to milkboy !
Cash only . No spicy option .
Dassara in Brooklyn ishes all over this place sorry. It wasn't terrible but wasn't spectacular either.
Cooked by Mexicans, rap music playing. Won't be back.
Some of the best ramen in the city, if not THE best. Great shishitos and pork buns as well. - Kristin Flip Polidoro
Can’t go wrong with the egg and vegetable soup with hand-drawn noodles. One of the best bargains in Philly. - Christian Polidoro
Spring rolls are some of the best in the city. Not large, but packed full. Had the white meat, chicken pho. Delicious! - Mary Dunham
Great food at low prices and the atmosphere is fantastic. Great place to grab lunch! - ᴡ High
Very quick and courteous service, usually there's always a place to sit and get some work done. - Brian Na
Excellent. Pricey but whatchu gonna do? It's van leeus! If the line is long grab a pint and go. More flavor choices that way too. You can skip the line also. - Paul Lee
