Former prison . Tour with a guide only. This place is very interesting, but gives you shiver. Our guide told us many information about the prison and Irish history . Bit far from the center but worth it
Many of the Hero of '16 were executed here, but that was only part of the Gaol's reign of terror. A "must visit" for anyone interested in history -- Irish history in particular.
Another must see when visiting Dublin. Fantastic value for money . Cafe upstairs is great and the tour guides were very enthusiastic and informative. Best attraction in Dublin by far.
A very important, though dark, piece of Irish history . This site is a must if you’re in Dublin. Dress for the weather as it’s often colder in the prison than outside.
Somber and fascinating museum . One of the better value for money sights in Dublin. A must-see for its sad place in Irish history .
A must see to understand Irish history . Buy tickets online - it sells out!
Always worth a visit. A very reasonably-priced, no-nonsense tour . Make time for the museum bit before or after the guided tour as the historic documents and artifacts are good to see.
Come early as tours fill up fast. Very interesting and you learn a lot about Irish history and independence.
Amazing tour ! Great architecture . Must see if visiting Dublin. The tour guides give you a great overview of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Very interesting historic place! Lot of knowledge and culture. And only 4€! Super recommended
you should better buy your tickets online and a few days prior to your visit.. worth seeing.. heartbreaking stories.. interesting architecture ..
Very interesting tour , history amazes, no matter if you're Irish or a foreigner. But in the touristic season the queues are terrible. So if you have a chance - come to the opening. It will worth it!
Impressive ! A lot of history in here. A bit pity that the guide wasn’t really enthusiastic.
Now a museum , this former prison where you'll learn about/see exhibitions of Ireland's political and penal history. You must book your tours in advance. No videos allowed.
Third time in Kilmainham Gaol and still really impressive. Our tour guide Michael was super! Great facts, storytelling and humor.
This is the best 8 euro I have ever spent. Adam our guide was amazing and if you have the chance to request him you should!
Best museum in Dublin and great way to go over Irish history . Totally recommend
Worth getting there early to avoid queuing too long. Half of the jail is currently closed for refurbishment but you get a discount for entry. Currently €4 and well worth a visit!
This is a must-see if you're in Dublin. The museum is really interesting if you're not familiar with Irish history .
Great tour , excellent guides. Remarkable place to visit with a very dark past..
Get here earlier in the day to buy your tour time tickets. It's one block from the 13/40 bus routes.
Get here early and stay late. There is a lot to see and learn about Ireland's history.
Our tour guide Kevin was very good and knew so much about the history of the jail. Surprised it was only 6€
A stopping place to visit, interesting tour about Irish political history. 6 euros fir adult ticket, photo allowed but no videos. Worthy visit!
Highly Recommend this tour . Watch out for large queues though, especially weekends. Nice cafe across the road (Lime Tree ). http://whattododublin.org/2013/11/10/kilmainham-gaol/
Great tours , book ahead though! Also, the 30min one is enough also check out the museum & visit the art exhibition across the road !
A must see! Once you go thru the museum and have the tour of the jail, it is hard to believe how inmates had been treated, well at least the unlucky ones!
Excellent insight into Irish history . The tour by Ciaran was brilliant. It's well worh visiting.
Very interesting tour in this old jail. It's very well preserved and it gives you a good insight of Irelands history.
Great tour ! Tons of information on Irish history and great history of some notorious prisoners . Very creepy! Don't miss it!
We wanted to go during our trip but tickets were sold out for the next three weeks - definitely plan in advance!
Well worth the visit if you're in town . Takes about an hr to learn the history of Ireland!
Excellent tour . Gift shop has a good selection of interesting & reasonably-priced books .
Really worth the tour . Just two euros for students!
Must take the tour and listen to Irish history told by charming and very knowledgeable guides
Buy tickets in advance. They only offer paid tours and if you are not on one you will be stuck in the museum for free. You get what you pay for.
Go on a guided tour for some great stories about Ireland's 1916 rising, and the incarceration of some of its leaders.

Very interesting, don’t miss it!
Strong history with irish revolutionary political figures
Although our guide seemed bored she was still interesting to listen to. Would like to have been allowed to see more of the jail than just the old, and new cells and small court yard.
My #1 favorite thing in Dublin. You learn so much Irish history .
Must do tour of Dublin, so much history takes about an hour, tour guides are fab
You can't leave Ireland without having been here. It's shocking to see how hard the Brits were during occupation
