This Black Walnut tree west of Burnham was planted in 1910, making it the oldest surviving tree on campus. The plaque at the base dedicates the tree to our first president, Nathan Morrison.
There is a mound of dirt that starts near the sidewalk east of Burnham and curves over to Drury Lane. This mound was once a Civil War trench and recently shells and other artifacts have been dug up.
A stone marker is located in the middle of the sidewalk about 100 feet east of Burnham that denotes the location of Drury's first building, Fairbanks Hall.
