Mission Peak Regional Preserve is a hiking trail Fremont located in United States.
2000 Stanford Ave Fremont , CA 94539 United States
Really hard to find parking at the Stanford Ave parking lot . Even if you come at 6am. So be prepared for the half mile hike from your car to the trailhead :)
Start early so that you can beat the heat & bring plenty of water . A great place to workout but make sure that you don't rush if your goal is to make it to the top.
Nice hike killer quad workout. Bring water for sure. It's 5km (3 mi) each way. If hot sunny day start very early no shade on hike . Be sure to bring a jacket it tends to be windy & cold at the top.
The peak trail from Ohlone includes views North to Mount Diablo as well as the bay . Pack a flashlight and go for sunset , smaller clouds and spectacular views .
Take the Horse Heaven Trail . It will kick your butt! The "regular" trail is boring, but expect to see cows whichever trail you decide. Come early for parking !
Use the toilet at the car park . Bring 2 bottles of water and suitable shoes for hiking . Be careful, the rule of thumb says thay you meet 2 snakes every time you visit this amazing place;-)
Great place for hiking there's different paths you can take depending on how difficult you want your hike to be. You might have to park a street down bc so many people like to come here
5.6 miles round trip from Stanford Ave . It'll be a somewhat tough ascent the first time but gets progressively easier. Don't give up! Bonus? Cows. Wandering this way & that. And great summit views ,
Around a 7 mile hike roundtrip. Nothing too challenging... Top elevation is probably 2000 ft. Bring lots of water and be prepared to see and smell a lot of cows and cow poop.
Wear hiking shoes , bring plenty of water and layers as the weather changes depending on the year. While it may be 50 at the base, it might be 36 at the top.
This is every step up the way...up hill . Worth it to see cows along the way and of course, reaching the top.
Great hike for an unbelievable view . Dogs are able to enjoy the trail as well . Plenty of room to let them run
tough hike but great workout; bring sunscreen and enough water though (one bottle is not enough)
For a steeper incline and for more of a challenge, take the Peak Meadow & Horse Heaven Trails instead of taking the undefined paths off the Ohlone Wilderness Trail .
I love going here but gotta get there really early to get a good parking spot and to beat the heat!
Beautiful view at the top. The trip down is just as painful as going up. Be prepared to have your toes destroyed when you reach the bottom.
Probably one of the best & convenient (for me that is) hiking trails in the bay . A little more challenging but the rewards are worth it
If you're bringing your dog, bring enough fucking water for the dog too. Just saw a dog collapse on the trail next to its running owner, and the owner wasn't carrying any water, estupido
You're climbing over jetted rocks at the peak, but the view is amazing once you get there. Oh, and the trip down may be slippery for your soles since it's all gravel and gravity.
This is some great hiking & a great workout. The trails are wide and well maintained. Dogs on leash and friendly people. Not accessible by public transit but ample residential parking-arrive early.
A good work out. Make sure you bring lots of water for yourself and for your dog if you have one! They allow dogs BUT there are coyotes so beware!
4 hours roundtrip. Ohlone College lots MNOP closed until August 2015. Tiring but not too difficult trail . Take a picture at the top!
My favorite local trail for hiking ! Start hike in the early morning, enjoy peaceful view while at the top, and return back by noon. A great workout indeed!
If you have friends going, make sure they have two bottles of water. Because there ain't any faucets on that hill .
best time is within 2 hours before sunset . its cooler, and the air is a less dry. catch that sunset . bring a jacket .
The view from the top and the feeling when you get there are legen...dary!
Get out early in the morning for fabulous sunrise colors. Same for evenings, but somehow I have found mornings to be more vibrant.
Main trail is busy but the side trail though steeper is much less crowded .
Fun Fact: Most of the Oak Trees are 500 to 600 years old, and none of them younger then 50.
Park ranger gives out $360 tickets past park close time. Ranger in parking lot .
About to hike . Family FunDay...:-) waiting for the rest of the gang...
Enjoy a nice hike with friends and take a pic to commemorate your experience!
People bring headphones! We don't want to listen to your portable radios !
Awesome bring water time and a camera
It's more or less straight uphill, 3 miles to top.
Insect repellant and sunscreen are must haves for hiking here in the summer!
Bring hiking shoes , it gets slippery while going down.
I feel sorry for the short feet dogs people bring. Today was not the first time I saw then carrying their dog in their arms.
Bring a small flashlight to climb up those stairs at night
Get there in morning for good parking
if its hot and you get thirsty easily, one bottle is NOT enough. bring more!
If your going to the top, bring more than just one small water bottle.
Hike early to avoid the harsh heat.
You'll need more than one bottle of water.
Hiking , Bay Area view
Watch out for horse poo on the hiking trail :/
Being plenty of water , not just 1 bottle.
Gets real steep real soon.
Have enough water
uphill sections: try walking backwards
