I think the best bang for your buck are the dairy aisle, produce, meat, and the frozen section. They sell frozen bags which are amazing for the train ride home.
For any expat Germans looking for a Heimat-fix, they do offer a few treats in terms of chocolate , Spätzle , etc...but I enjoy it purely for the savings (and for the fact that they have Aldi in USA!)

This place has affordable food but they only take cash, ebt or debit but it doesn't say that anywhere. They also sell bags for your groceries . Supposed to be 6 cents and they charged 20.
