Kinokuniya was originally a lumber and charcoal dealer in Yotsuya. After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the business was moved westward to Shinjuku where it was re-fashioned into a book store .

It's hot, stuffy and cramped with no AC . Don't expect the shitty employees to help you look for anything specific because they don't know their own merchandise. Good books though.
Not sure now, but can get subscriptions to hard to find Japanese Magazines thru them. Just ask at the counter.
