Grab lunch at one of the fast food places on 7th St in Chinatown and then eat it in this gorgeous atrium at the National Portrait Gallery . The museum is worth a visit if you have a free afternoon.
This glass-enclosed space is a best kept lunch spot in DC. You can bring your own lunch (that cafe is overpriced!), enjoy some quiet people watching , then take in world class art on your way out.
A lot of great collections to get lost without. You could easily spend 2 hours in here. And it's free! Don't forget to swing by the courtyard
Pro tip in DC: the café at the National Portrait Gallery is a quiet , cool, and very peaceful place to work or study.
There’s a Jazzband playing around the Orchid Garden at around 4pm!
Awesome space with a cool ceiling, great for a quick coffee or work session
If you live in the city and don't take advantage of the free museums , shame on you. Gorgeous courtyard to take a quick breather from work.
Very cool courtyard to read and chill . Coffee is definitely way overpriced though
The food is pricey but it's one of the coolest spaces in the District.
Great spot but exceedingly expensive cup of not very good coffee .
Viewing the portraits of our country 's Presidents is beyond words.
Games of thrones!!!
Get away from the city and have a coffee/tea here. Secret DC Gem!
Courtyard has free WiFi !
Check out the video game exhibit on 3 fl
Great place to write code ... would be better with outlets though.
beautiful place
Just rest and dream. So relaxing
Eating lunch
Great for sitting and relaxing. Good place for catching up with friends. - Chris R (thechristophe)
As I walked around, I just kept thinking about the Hamilton soundtrack! Very cool to see the different variation of portraits. Favorite is still Obama’s vibrant painting. - Ailie Chang
A rich collection of American art. On Tuesday afternoons the library staff hosts a drawing club. - Tani Person
Love the cappuccinos, great patio in the summer, and really cute dinners on weeknights. Be warned, wifi only works during weekdays - Kass
Yummy crepes (I had chicken/asiago/goat cheese) and smoothies. Friendly young (North African?) guy helped me out. - shifty
