The beacon beckons. Take a walk out on the jetty to the lighthouse and watch the ships sail by. Walking paths let you traverse the historic fort and an even better view of Casco Bay .

Bring good walking/climbing shoes . Rocks with spaces between can be challenging at times. But worth it!

John Hankus

Take the cool walk out on the rocks to visit the lighthouse . Parking is limited so be aware before showing up and expecting a spot.

Kathryn

South Portland has TWO beautiful lighthouses . Spring Point (here) and Bug Light over on the next point - a 5 minute drive. There's a museum and gift shop at Bug Light.

Saturdays 11-3 you can go in the lighthouse for $5. Very worth it.

If you're into watching the big tanker ships , this is a great place to watch them come in and out of the harbor .
