If you like the fountains during the day, wait until night falls, and they light up. Unfortunately this area does attract certain types of people, so have your wits and belongings close with you.

@Mike R The real food market is here on the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month including Fri. Local meat and sausages , cheese and fruit and veg stalls and various take away inc Caribbean. Worth a look.

Piccadilly Gardens is a great place specially when it sunny days but know they stop with the water fountains , that's very bad because picadilly loses a lot without that

Nothing like as unsafe as some like to claim! That it's central, public & broad puts most off causing trouble here. Be more careful of Market St, too many side streets for muggers to lurk/run down.

Run through the fountains in your pants. Seems to be popular with the locals and a cost effective alternative to the beach or having a bath, even when it's not particularly warm.

One of Manchester's few open spaces . Could be nice if it didn't have a giant concrete wall running through it. Reminds me of communist Germany

Absolutely fed up of the beggars here. Wish the police would sort it out!

Make sure you don't get bombed but the pigeons .

Bring an umbrella... also has the markets at Christmas and the odd occasion throughout the year.

MALES: Pee at the standing-outdoor/open-air toilet things at the west edge of the gardens , next to the tram stop.

Just sit there and enjoy the great city .

Why is the fountain only ever turned on when it's raining? The mist part on the other side of the bridge doesn't work anymore either.
