A variety of seaweed, crabs, sponges, sea stars, mollusks, and fish make their homes in the inter-tidal; that area between low and high tide. The Reserve is set aside to protect this complex but fragile community for us and future generations.

James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is the best place on the coast to see the tide pools . On any given day you’ll see sea urchins , sea stars, harbor seals , various mollusks, and the elusive red octopus .
This is a wonderful day trip from San Francisco. Make sure to find out when it's low tide as that's when all the sea life is available.
Be sure to go out on the bluffs which stand about 80 feet above where the seals rest. You can watch hundreds of harbor seals surfing and scampering around.
A small, secluded beach . Very easy to reach and with plenty of parking . You can look at Seals playing and fishing and resting. And a killer place for sunset ! (bring a blanket if windy).
Come during low tide and look at all the cool things in the tide pools . The further out you go, the more you’ll see.
The tide pools are so fun to walk around and explore. Felt like a kid again jumping around rocks and water.
Best to go when its foggy & there isn't a million people out.Tidepools are awesome,& go out about a mile.Be sure not to slip &crack your head open on the tiderocks.Check out the cypress forest nearby!

Even if it's not low tide , this is the best tide pooling you're ever gonna find in the US. Incredible experience! Access difficult for disabled, but there's a nice overlook bench to enjoy!

Awsome beach , 5 min on foot from my house. Lots of seals and whale watching too.
Cypress trees were planted between 1881-1911 when developer built the Moss Beach Hotel
The tide pools here are beautiful and a great place for kids.
