As whole-in-the-wall as it gets, with few tables, a small bar and gruff service. But the food, the food... all the Cajun/Creole classics PERFECTLY executed, and fabulous off-menu specials.
Get the taste plate which costs $14. It's shrimp creole , fried chicken , red beans&rice with sausage , rabbit&sausage jambalaya . Also came with gumbo . Just a lot of flavor. I’ll take it all at Coop’s. Read more
Absolutely loved it here. Must try their fried oysters -crunchy,cajun spiced on the outside and so juicy inside! Get the taste plate if you want to try everything. But I'd recommend the jambalaya .
Jambalaya Supreme : boneless rabbit , sausage , rice ... a little bit spicy but it’s worth it! You might have to wait for a few minutes to enter in rush hours
We had Jambalaya Supreme and Crawfish Dinner . We liked it! The place has a very nice, simple old and old. Nothing fancy . You can feel a very distinct historic vibe - which is awesome.
Absolutely amazing service. Little unique place with lots of history on its walls.Loved the Jambalaya and the Abitas. The taste plate is a must if you want to try several excellent dishes.
I tried the duck tortilla and oh my god!! It's so so delicious!! Also tried the jambalaya and it was great! Quite spicy , but still great!!
Most amazing crawfish étouffée . The one from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are better. :) cuz it actually made me not want the jambalaya supreme or the fried chicken (can you believe that?!)
The place looks like a totally sketchy dive, but the food is fantastic. The fried chicken says Cajun, but I didn't notice much "Cajun" about it, still tasty! Gumbo and Jambayaya are also great.
This hole in the wall ain’t playin! At Coop's they serve some of the BEST jambalaya in town ! Read more
We got the taste plate and the green beans . Honestly everything was okay... but the fried chicken was literally the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. It was coated in heaven!!!
We started off with the lamb ribs which tasted so great!! And we both got the sampler plates - the chicken is amazing as well as the jambalaya . Wasn't a fan of the rest. Will be back for sure!
The cole slaw , the duck quesadilla , the fried chicken , the gumbo , the pasta rossa & the red beans are all DAH-LISH-US!!! The beers are so cold & will quench the spices that you're SURE to encounter.
Great food, great service. Casual and delicious. Slightly off the beaten path. Loved every dish I’ve tried here! Also the fried chicken is insane.
Try the platter, where you get to try all the delicious dishes Nola is recognised for. Love the atmosphere of the place. If you want local this is it.
The honey mustard is sooo good!!! For a person that doesn't like mustard I was in love!!!! The gumbo is spicy but just the right amount! Love the atmosphere! We are dippin it and doing it!
This place may not look like much but once inside the food and the service are both excellent. If you have to wait to get in - do it if you can. It's worth the wait!
The rabbit jambalaya is the best jambalaya I've had in the city . It's worth a stop in this dive (which I call a "dive" with the utmost respect)
If you can't decide what to eat I can highly recommend the Smoked Duck Quesadillas to start followed by the Jambalaya Supreme . Damn tasty!
Yes this is a DIVE and feels more bar then restaurant but the food that comes out of this place is true Cajun! I went here with 9 guys for a bachelor party and the food was great.
A truly authentic and epic Jambalaya was such great flavours and ingredients!! If your in New Orleans you must come here!!
The Rabbit and Sausage Jambalaya is absolutely superb! The texture brings to the mind visions of unremembered pleasures of Thanksgiving and days by the lake . You MUST try it.
Delicious food in here. Maybe not the most focused customer service but I'm sure that comes with getting a lot of tourists . It's a tight squeeze and the bathrooms are technically outside in the back.
Amazing spot with local feel. Don't let the look of this place or loud music scare you away. It's amazing food & cheap . And great service!
Get the fried chicken . I had the tasting plate , and while the rest were alright, the fried chicken was great. I know what I'm getting next time.
Get the fried chicken and the rabbit & sausage jambalaya . Unbelievable with a little Chipotle Tabasco . Bloody Mary is excellent too.
One of the best and most authentic local bars in New Orleans. Great atmosphere with fantastic creole food and Louisiana beers .
Really inexpensive local hangout . Cajun fried chicken , Shrimp Gumbo and Seafood Platter are so delish! Cheap wine and beer , too!
I eat here at least once a week. the food is phenomenal.. However, the service can be retched. it is normal to feel as if you are being ignored. they can be a little too relaxed in this dive bar vibe.
Delicious food in a small spot, but worth stopping in. Had the jambalaya -- spicy , but highly recommended.
The taste place is perfect if you want to try the dishes Nola is recognised for. Love how local and authentic it is!
If you want to try the best of the best, order the duck quesadilla and Coop’s Taste Plate . They’re big enough that you can probably even share those with someone if you’re really pinching pennies. Read more
The locals say the gumbo and rabbit & sausage jambalaya are the best in town ! Make sure you bring your ID- it's 21+ only and they are strict!
Everything is so good here. Gets crowded with long lines so be friends with your line neighbors and share a table for faster seating.
Be sure to try the marinated lamb ribs ! I didn't care too much for the gumbo but other folks in my party thought it was good.
A beat-up joint described by Zagat as "where the not-so-elite meet to eat". Perfect description. If it's your first meal in NOLA, try their Cajun chicken and jambalaya supreme .
This. Place. Is. Amazing. Get the fried chicken and/or the taste platter! Yum. Also, Juda is the greatest server.
Great chicken and jambalaya but my favorite item was the seafood gumbo
Great service, authentic cuisine , excellent atmosphere. It's all about that Jambalaya Supreme .
Amazing place, seriously let the servers just order everything for you. It was best meal we had in NOLA by far.
We loved the place! Great vibe, delicious food!
Travelled across from London to eat here again for a second time! Went on two different nights and stuck to my fave jambalaya on both. Thanks Coops!
Decatur Street hole in the wall with great rabbit jambalaya . Cooked out on the patio in a big cast iron pot; you might smell a bit smoky when you leave.
They make a really good blackened redfish - juicy, succulent, bursting with flavor.
get in line and order that fried chicken !
The servers are rude but that's all part of the atmosphere at coops. The food was great and authentic .
The taste plate is the way to go if you don't have a favorite. But everything is awesome. Oh, and Judah is the man.
Red beans & rice , fried chicken , Cajun coleslaw … all of it outstanding!! Love this place!
If you're lucky enough to be strolling through the Quarter on a cold day, stop in here for a Buttered Rum . Delicious!
Taste plate lets you try a little of everything. AUH-MAZING gumbo and jambalaya !
Awesome roast beef po'boy dressed with cheddar cheese. Also shrimp po'boy combo with seafood gumbo - Raied Farghaly
Fantastic beer selection, on tap and bottle. Try the Southern Pecan Ale. - Jeffrey Hipp
Everything is excellent, but my favorite is the Dark and Stormy Pork. You'll love every single bite!!! - Jessica Muszynski
A most go to when visiting New Orleans. Beignets with Chicory Coffee is an amazing treat - Gabriel Hayes
I love this place when the sun is down and the piano is playing. The purple stuff will catch up with you quick. It's a great getaway from Bourbon Street while still being on Bourbon Street. - Latham Brunson
Lovely to walk through, there is usually live music and tasty treats to try! Plus great scenery - Candice Rivera
