Памятник Николаю I начал строиться в 1856 году после смерти императора по проекту архитектора Огюста Монферрана и был открыт 25 июня (7 июля) 1859 года.
Значительный памятник . Сделан на века . К обязательному посмотру.
Просто удивительно, как эта многотонная композиция держится лишь на двух точках опоры!

Жители города прозвали этот памятник так: на комоде бегемот , на бегемоте обормот.
Никогда нормально не могу рассмотреть его, все время быстро проезжаю мимо.
