El Chucho has an impressive beverage menu for such a small place, complete with a variety of margaritas , spike-able sodas and a cocktail list that includes the Senor Clusterf*ck and a Blue Hawaiian.
Definitely get the guacamole and elote for appetizers and one of the sets if two tacos for the main. Skip the asada and go with the el pastor or vegetarian one.
So many good things to try here but some of the must-haves are the Asada marinated steak tacos , Pescado fish tacos , and of course the amazing corn on the cob 'street style.'
This is a do not miss for Columbia Heights. The drinks are booze with booze and the food is small portions but excellent. Don't miss the Elote or the Hierba.
Elote (Mexican grilled corn ) is a must. The calabacitas tacos (fried zucchini ) are a great choice, even if you're not vegetarian . Ask for the salsa picante (hot sauce ) if you need an extra kick.
El Chucho's elote callejero is worth it. The grilled corn is gilded with brown-butter aioli , cilantro , chili-lime salt and pungent Parmesan-like cotija cheese . Wash it down with a $5 margarita . Read more
The salsa here is the best I’ve tasted, excellent consistency! The pescado tacos are far better than the meat tacos . Great ambience.
Food is very good (especially the sloppy sandwich that comes with plastic gloves), homemade sodas with booze are excellent. All night Monday happy hour is a great bonus.
One of the best kept secrets in DC. Great pork tacos , the corn is ridiculous, and the bartenders make a mean cocktail . Ask for the Suffering Bastard.
Get atún, pescado and vegetales. Wash it down with a passion fruit margarita and your are good to go.
Sope de Moronga is amazing. Deep rich black flavor and a fresh green taste on top. Nice with a Pomegranate Tart Apple Margarita with Lime Chile Salt
The tacos are great - try the tuna ! The margaritas are amazing. And the service is always top notch!
Good margaritas . Tiny, tasty tacos . Fast, friendly service . Thankfully they have bug spray to use when you sit outside.
Do not leave here without trying the Original Margarita with Chili Lime Salt - IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
You can't beat a frozen margarita on a hot summer afternoon.
Try the elote and all night happy hour on Mondays
Tried many different items and overall, the food is a bit lackluster in the flavor department. Good drinks, though. Try Mama Chuy for better Mexican street food .
Those guys are insulting. I was rejected from the bar because I "only" had my official French ID. It seems like it's not good enough for them. If you aim to have strict rule at least have right info!
Primo late night taco menu!
They make their own simple syrups . Try the Blackberry Poblano Margarita or the Senorita Cluster.
frozen swirl margarita and the torta ahogado. you can thank me later!
Upstairs outdoor seating is the perfect spot for frozen margaritas on a hot summer night in the District.
The $5 margarita on the rocks is the tastiest of the margaritas . No need to get fancy with it.
All cocktails are amazing. And the pork belly appetizers blew me away with all its flavor!
Great happy hour specials (according to Thrillist DC) - $4 margaritas , $4 beers , & $4 tacos ! Read more
The Blackberry Margarita with Chili Salt is to die for!
A neighborhood favorite. Great tacos and a strawberry habanero lime margarita .
Amazing corn and mezcal . The strawberry habenaro margaritas are good too.
The margaritas rise far above the fray. Steak and polenta w/mole sauce was unforgettable.
It felt like home! Cali! This tequila and bartender wasAWESOME!
Their rooftop is nice, and a cool/chill neighborhood vibe .
Nice laid back Mexican. They have a rooftop and a bajillion tequilas .
This place is joy! Try the corn , cheese ball things and the margaritas !
Great food and cocktails , but I can't go back until the foie gras is off the menu .
Head to this spot for margaritas on tap and tacos on the charming roofdeck.
Happy hour lasts all night on Monday, and don't miss the elote callejero .
Don the pair of gloves that accompanies the Torta Ahogada and dig into salsa-drenched perfection: Read more
Ok...first time here...BUT the taquitos de Huitlacoche are to die for. Get on it!!
Elote is phenomenal. $5 margarita is good too.
For a great and cheap mezcal pick el maguey vida.
All night happy hour on Mondays
Ask for Nick he will have you feeling like you are in TJ..... For real
Margaritas are tasty. Tacos are good, but could use a little more oomph. Won't stop me from going back though.
Half price tacos and drink specials every day 4-730. Otherwise not sure if its worthwhile.
Place does not take reservations so get here early or prepare to wait, especially for the rooftop .
The food & The atmosphere!
The porkbelly appetizer is unbelievable. Unexpected amazingness.
The Elote is second to none!
Good margaritas , pretty good fried cheese . As for food... Go to Mama Chuy 's on Georgia Ave
The pozole is an espectacular way to warm up on a cool night.
My favorite Mexican place in the city. They have huge portions of fajitas and everything here is super reasonably priced. - Jayme Rayne
???? This place is awesome. Service is great, prices are accurate, food and drink are delicious ???? - josef jon
Outside seating is nice! And the enmolada de guajalote is awesome. Ceviche is great - Glenn Hernandez
Food is delicious! Try a brunch skillet. So good! They also have a yummy beer selection! - John Baker
Love the food and environment here -- the veg hash is amazing, as is every variety of French toast they've ever had! I also really love the fact that they have four private, gender-neutral bathrooms! - Jaime Wojdowski
Everything on the menu is great and the staff is both courteous and sassy - Elliot S
