They do haunted tours every night, to include a stop at room 217. If you're staying in room 217 you can have a LOT of fun with the tour groups when they gather outside the door ... >:)

Stunningly gorgeous hotel and grounds. Stay, take a tour , and/or just come for dinner or drinks. This was a true highlight of Estes Park for us.

Beautiful room in the lodge . Room service was delightful, the tour was fun, the bar has an extensive whiskey collection, the lunch wraps were delish. Highly recommended by me!

This was a bucket list adventure for me and the Stanley Hotel didn't disappoint! It is a gorgeous historical hotel and very haunted... Definitely give it a try or come for the ghost / historical tour !

Went for the tour only. Emily was the tour guide. She was very funny and informative. The hotel is amazing to see. You can have a drink at the bar and go to the gift shop . Beautiful setting. ????????

NONE of stanley kubricks "the shining" was filmed at the Stanley Hotel! The exterior shots were filmed in Mt. Hood Oregon at the Timberline Lodge ! The interior was filmed on a sound stage in London!

Take a photo of the blocked stairwell on the 4th floor, if you have your camera on flash it will reveal the word RedRum scratched in the wood.

Love just sitting in the lobby by the fireplaces . Great old historic hotel . A must for any trip to Estes Park.

Book this room as far in advance as possible. TOTALLY WORTH IT. It's a fantastic room with great history.

Great old school lobby, bar with lots of whiskey choices and bartenders who know how to use it. Traffic is a mess with all the on-site construction .

Don’t buy into the hype. The tour may be entertaining but the hotel itself is poorly run and very poorly maintained. Estes Park is wonderful, but you can do WAY better when it comes to lodging .

not a single frame of film from"The Shining" was shot at the Stanley. The "Overlook"hotel is in Oregon. the"hedge"maze is in U.K and the long winding mtn.road as it begins is in "New Zealand". got it?

When checkin' in ask/hope that you get a room that faces Estes Park. The rooms that face the back of the hotel have the worse views and can get a bit noisy from the outdoor bar !

Ask for Jimmy at the bar for some good insight and recommendations on Whiskey .

Room 217 has a great collection of stephen king books in it. A lot of them have nice messages from fans who have donated them.

Got seated in a private section, was very nice. The rainbow trout was superb, crab cakes had an indescribable sauce, handcut fettucine was good too.

The mixed nuts & olives were shockingly good. Also super fun and knowledgeable bartenders .

Go on the 'ghost and history tour ' and get Tyler as your guide. He is excellent! He is informative, knowledgeable , funny, and makes sure to make sure everyone is having an great time!

The closet door opens and closes on it's own. Room is right above the piano in the music room. If you take the Ghost tour you will know what I mean.

Lovely old antiques grace the lobby but the best part is the stairscase in the lobby.

Crazy haunted. You can sometimes see your own image suddenly appear against a wall. Oh wait, that's a mirror. Never mind. Still a cool old hotel .

Rooms 217, 418, 401 and a few more are documented as haunted. They cost more to rent for the night, and you won't sleep well . Promise.

The Redrum Ale is excellent - a red ale with a full and smooth flavor along with the Trout dip !

Take a walk around the hotel early in the morning before all the tours start. It makes the hotel seem less like a tourist trap and more like a classy hotel .

Wow! It's a Stephen King movie , not Stanley Kubrick and none of "The Shining" was actually shot here. I'm floored that no one seems to know that!
