If you visit the National Museum you get a free entrance to this museum . If you would need to pay for it separately I don’t think it’s worth. Still, if you having nothing to do, I guess you can go...
No longer has free admission on Wednesdays (despite what their own pamphlet says!). Admission fee for adults is ISK1000.

Really nice museum with a lot to see. They even have free lockers to hold your stuff during your visit. Definitely worth it, especially if you have a the Reykjavík city card. - Catherine Wroclawski
