South Mountain Park

South Mountain Park & Preserve is larger than the island of Manhattan, with 50 miles of trails for riding, hiking & mountain biking . Motor to the top and enjoy a spectacular view of the whole valley.

If you come up on the back side, in the neighborhoods on the south east side, there's a trail to a small rock mound. Easily the best sunrise I've ever seen, facing four peaks. Bring coffee !

Beautiful park right outside the city with great views and trails . Good to drive up and hike from the top if you have kids.

I came here at night so I can't say to much about it but it's still an amazing view and if you want to be able to drive up to the top get there before 7:00pm

This is a great trail for a run because it offers elevation change which gives you a workout. When the weather is nice this trail isn't as busy as National which is a plus.

This is a great park to visit if you have disabled or small children visiting. You can drive all the way up to the summit and walk around. Get some great pics in the 'castle ' and watch the sun set.

Such a large variety of trails , bring a lot of water, fun to bring pets too! Once you reach the top, the view over Phoenix is incredible!

It's a very easy hike . Any of the trails are good. My favorite would have to be the Mormon Trail off Baseline. Mildly difficult hike and not much crowd.

Great 30 minute hike-Park on Pima Canyon rd and take the Marcos de Niza trail to the top of the first or second hill . It's a perfect spot for a packed lunch and a beautiful view .

Phoenix is home to the largest municipal park in the world. South Mountain Park and Preserve covers more than 16,500 acres and has more than 50 miles of hiking , biking and equestrian trails .

This is a great place to bring your dogs. Although there usually are bags to dispose of your dogs waste, always bring your own because the last few times I was there they were empty.

The view at the top of the mountain is beautiful. Come to this park if you want to get a nice view of the whole valley.

Nice scenic views , easy hiking for families with young children. Be sure to bring plenty of water :)

There are numerous trails from easy to difficult. I have hiked most of them and continue to enjoy it.

Gorgeous Scenery , especially on a cloudy day with a little breeze while the sunsets .

Everything is good here but when will people get it: PICK UP YOUR DOG POOP!!!

Try the kiwanis trail if you're in the mood for a vigorous hike .

One of my favorite mountains the trail is easy to follow and the view beautiful.

The trails near this trailhead are super flat. Not my choice for hiking but a lot of fun for beginning trail biking !

So many different trail options!! & very beautiful view !

Great views , but isn't the best for running. I'm used to the dirt trails in SoCal, so I thought these rocky trails were pretty treacherous. Running uphill wasn't so bad, but I couldn't fly downhill.
