The Enzo is one of many standout sammies. The roast beef and broccoli rabe pair and the "salad " and light mayo unite them oh so kindly with the hoagie roll.
Ridiculous sandwich shop . The 1/3 size is more than enough for one non-fatso person. Roast beef , mozz and eggplant did not disappoint. Can't wait to come back and try the others.
Today another day that I was not let down the best sandwich in the world tasty and every way he layered the meat properly the proper amount of lettuce and tomato the proper amount of cheese delicious
Whatever you get, make sure it has eggplant on it.

Roast beef , mozz and eggplant with gravy was incredible. Still give Fiore's in Hoboken the edge due to their delicious, garlicky peppers , but this was definitely worth the trek to its remote location.
After years of trying their sandwiches the Roast Pork Special is still my all-time favorite. On Fridays they make fried shrimp and both the Po'boy and Parmigian are excellent.
Pretty sure in that episode of 30 Rock where the firemen get those amazing hero sandwiches from Brooklyn and won't tell Liz where they are from... they were from Defonte's.
Worth every penny, calorie, and in my case today, drop of sweat biking from Greenpoint to get here on a sweltering summer day. Flat-out legendary sandwiches . Here’s the Nicky Special .
Everything here is great. I'm partial to the meatballs and the chicken parm . If you get here after 3pm, you're at risk of them being out of some choices of sandwiches .
Roast beef , mozz , fried Eggplant , jus. If you're lucky and Nicky Defonte himself is working the slicer, it just may be the best meat & cheese sub you ever eat.

I don't even know what to say. I'd put off going to this place for so long, even though it was within walking distance, and I feel like a fool. Incredible sandwiches .
You can spot newcomers here because they order their sandwiches large — a mistake unless you plan to feed a family or want something to take home.
Great sandwiches . Old school place. Add the fried eggplant to any sandwich .
Saw this on foodnetwork's Triple D and I just had to try it especially since its so close to the pool I go to. The sandwiches are made with quality ingredients so the taste speaks for itself.
Stop at this bare bones sandwich shop during your bike tour of Brooklyn. Get The Dino, the Cuban or the Vinnie Barbarino. A small is good enough, a large is overkill.
Eater: Italian combo , available in third- and half-loaf sizes features salami , pepperoni , provolone , and capicola . Sweetened with pickled red peppers , and is by turns spicy , sour, and sweet.
Some of the best sandwiches in the city . The roast beef , mozzarella , and eggplant is fantastic!
Everything that a New York sandwich should be, Defonte’s delivers . Unpretentious, huge, delicious.
This place is amazing - hard to go wrong with any choice you make. But beware - the sandwiches are ENORMOUS.
Just go to the counter and say "give me your best" These guys are true pros. They'll treat you right.
Ignore the extensive list of sandwiches and either stick to the specials or order like the locals. Personal preference won't matter once they pair meat to bread . It all looks pretty tasty.
The potato and egg hero with mozzarella at Defonte’s menu is one of those foods that is so much greater than the sum of its parts. It’s huge and available at the crack of dawn. Read more
