Obelisco di Monte Citorio is a plaza Sant'Eustachio Rome located in Italy.
Piazza di Monte Citorio 00187 Rome Latium Italy
Brought to Rome by Augustus in 10 BC together with the Flaminio, it was erected as the gnomon of the Solarium Augusti in Campus Martius. Pius VI Braschi put in on piazza Montecitorio in 1792.
In Augustus ’ day, the obelisk acted as a sundial and calendar, aligned to cast a shadow across the solarium altar on the emperor’s birthday.
Conocido como Obelisco Solare o de Montecitorio (por la plaza en la que está), es uno de los 8 obeliscos erigidos en Roma que provienen del antiguo Egipto
